However, this presents unique challenges for software performance testing teams. With each release, test scripts needed to be manually rebuilt, a time-consuming process that sometimes rendered them outdated before deployment.

Additionally, o9 operates on a global scale, serving customers and coordinating development teams worldwide. Maintaining consistency in testing methodologies across different regions proved to be a challenge, as tools and resources varied. Simulating real-world application loads in diverse geographies required a standardized yet adaptable approach to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability across all markets.

o9 selected OpenText Core Performance Engineering (LoadRunner Cloud) to manage all performance, scalability, stability, and reliability (PSSR) testing.

"We use OpenText Core Performance Engineering to ensure that our software remains useful, usable, and reliable—at scale," said Shah. "OpenText Core Performance Engineering is a stable and mature solution, and we already had people with expertise internally. As a cloud-based solution, it allows us to generate application loads anywhere in the world without additional infrastructure investments."

Making a fast start on the cloud

Beyond enabling o9 to create realistic load scenarios for testing, choosing a cloud-based OpenText solution enabled the company to launch quickly.

"The implementation was incredibly straightforward—we were up and running within days," said Shah. "Another key factor was the solution’s strong reputation. Many of our customers already use it, and OpenText Core Performance Engineering is the gold standard of performance testing tools."

Simplifying test script maintenance

In its first year of using the OpenText™ TruClient™ component within OpenText Core Performance Engineering, o9 successfully created 600 HTTP web testing scripts, covering more than half of its total test cases.

"We’ve been extremely satisfied with TruClient over the past year," said Shah. "Rather than using it for direct test execution, we generate scripts in TruClient and convert them into HTTP web scripts using the built-in tool. This significantly reduces maintenance efforts and enhances efficiency."

"When our product changes, we simply re-convert our TruClient scripts to get an updated version of the HTTP web scripts," said Shah. "Teams can now focus more on executing tests rather than script maintenance. With TruClient, script creation is 60-70% faster."

Having a single cloud-based tool has also established greater consistency across o9’s global teams, while OpenText’s virtual resources enable realistic stress testing across regions.
