Steve Rai

Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Steve Rai is OpenText’s Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for all core finance, external reporting, investor relations, tax and treasury functions.

Steve has over 30 years of global finance experience and a proven track record as a technology industry veteran. Steve has built a reputation for strong leadership, integrity, and deep operational expertise in scaling finance functions in complex, high-growth and technology-driven businesses. Throughout his career, Steve has demonstrated excellence in financial leadership, corporate governance, M&A, strategic planning and transformational restructuring across both high-growth environments and established global enterprises.

Steve most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of BlackBerry Limited, where he played a pivotal role in transforming the company's financial strategy and operating structure during significant technological and organizational changes. He led a broad global mandate spanning internal and external financial reporting, business unit finance, insurance, facilities, sourcing and procurement, taxation, treasury, investor relations and intellectual property and licensing. Steve was instrumental in supporting the company's evolution into a leader in cybersecurity and IoT software, leveraging AI and machine learning technologies.

Before becoming CFO, Steve held several senior financial leadership roles at BlackBerry, including Deputy CFO and Vice-President & Corporate Controller. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance positions at PMC-Sierra, and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Vancouver, Canada and in London, England.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and is both a U.S. CPA (Illinois) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (Canada).
