Information archiving resources

  • OpenText offers two primary archiving solutions:

    • OpenText Information Archive is a general-purpose archive for decommissioning legacy applications and actively archiving structured and unstructured data. It provides a highly scalable, information-agnostic infrastructure for continuous archiving with search, viewing, data masking, and compliance.
    • OpenText Core Archive for SAP Solutions is a SaaS-based active archiving service for SAP data and content. It integrates with your existing SAP environment, providing convenient access to legacy SAP data.
  • Deployment flexibility allows organizations to choose the architecture that best fits their IT strategy.

    OpenText Core Archive for SAP Solutions is deployed exclusively as a cloud-based SaaS offering.

    OpenText Information Archive offers several deployment options:

    • OpenText Private Cloud deployment, which offers managed archiving on your choice of Google, Microsoft, or Amazon clouds.
    • Customer-managed hyperscaler deployment on Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services.
    • Off-cloud deployment in a customer data center.
    • Hybrid deployment, which offers, for example, a mixture of off-cloud and cloud-based storage in the same environment.
  • Both solutions provide robust compliance tools to meet regulatory requirements and manage data lifecycles securely. Shared features include strict record-level and event-based retention policies, data collections, and legal holds to override standard retention rules. Additionally, they offer privacy data-masking to hide all or part of a data record, ensuring sensitive information is protected.

  • Application decommissioning lets businesses safely retire legacy systems and mainframes, reducing software, hardware, and data center costs. By moving historical, business-complete data into OpenText Information Archive, they replace outdated systems with a consolidated, secure platform while maintaining compliance and user access.

    Each application becomes a separate, configurable dataset within OpenText Information Archive, with some organizations retiring dozens or even hundreds. Each keeps its own role-based security and separate search, reporting, and record displays.

  • OpenText™ Content Aviator™ embeds generative AI directly into the archive, transforming how users interact with legacy information. Using natural language queries, users can converse with their archived data to quickly generate summaries, analyze complex datasets, and produce dynamic tables or charts. OpenText Content Aviator delivers immediate insights from unfamiliar data without needing to export it to external systems.

  • Yes, OpenText Content Aviator follows the user’s current rights and permissions, strictly respecting your organization's security and governance. AI interactions are entirely secure—users can only query archive data to which they already have authorized, role-based access. Data always remains encrypted at rest and over the wire, and data is never used for AI training.

  • Archiving SAP data with OpenText Core Archive for SAP Solutions helps reduce the load on active systems, easing infrastructure demands and lowering costs. It is purpose-built to manage the long-term lifecycle of SAP information. Crucially, it keeps historical data in context, meaning users can still conveniently access archived records directly from within their familiar SAP user interfaces.

  • OpenText supports the ingestion of any data—in any format or schema, whether it’s unstructured or structured. Organizations can archive commercial and custom application data, databases, document libraries, and high-volume print streams like AFP. Additionally, the platform features robust full-text indexing that supports over 1,500 file formats—including Microsoft 365 content, PDFs, and attachments—making it highly scalable for diverse enterprise needs.
