Global professional sports organizationSports organization saves hundreds of hours each season and shares engaging fan content faster with OpenText™ Digital Asset Management

A leading professional sports organization plays its home games in a major arena, where it creates an electric atmosphere for fans. But the fan experience isn’t just down to the players on court; it’s also about pre-game entertainment, halftime shows, and the dynamic visuals, real-time updates, and interactive content displayed in-venue.
The organization’s in-house video production team is responsible for capturing, editing, and delivering all video content and motion graphics that fans see on game day. The Senior Producer explained, “The video content and motion graphics we create are an integral part of the game-day experience, enhancing fan engagement and enjoyment.”
On game day, dozens of 4K cameras capture the action from every angle. Previously, footage streamed into a broadcast control room before being saved to a media asset management (MAM) platform.
“We had reached the end of the road with our existing MAM system,” recalled the Senior Producer. “It was limited to 1080p resolution, meaning we had to down-convert footage from our 4K cameras—a cumbersome process.”
Due to platform limitations, the team relied heavily on file-sharing tools to collaborate. “We faced an increasingly complex production landscape, with no centralized repository for video footage,” said the Senior Producer. “Content was spread across multiple systems and local storage, making it difficult to locate assets quickly.”
The team sought to consolidate repositories and modernize its MAM system. “We targeted a centralized solution that could manage 4K content natively and accelerate asset search,” the Senior Producer added.
Integration between the broadcast control room and the content system was also a priority. Previously, camera crews manually saved replay clips with limited naming conventions, requiring hours of rework after games.

Video file names and metadata are now populated during games, eliminating hundreds of hours of manual work each season. Seeing replays saved automatically in real time was a highlight.
To streamline workflows and improve content accessibility, the organization engaged a systems integration partner to deploy OpenText™ Digital Asset Management—a scalable solution for managing rich media.
Propel rich media workflows with enterprise digital asset management
The organization implemented an enterprise-grade DAM solution capable of supporting large-scale assets and high-resolution video formats.
“We selected OpenText Digital Asset Management for its flexibility and scalability,” said the Senior Producer. “The solution was tailored to meet both current and future needs.”
OpenText DAM integrates with key video production tools such as broadcast systems and creative applications. “OpenText’s integration with creative tools was a huge advantage,” said the Senior Producer. “Users can locate and use assets directly within their editing applications.” Integration with broadcast systems enabled automated workflows. They continued, “when a play happens, it’s automatically logged, tagged, and stored with metadata—making content instantly searchable.”
Working with its partner, the organization migrated hundreds of thousands of assets to the new platform in time for the season launch. “We deployed DAM, completed integrations, and migrated critical assets within a tight timeframe aligned to the season schedule.” The centralized platform now contains over 600,000 assets,” the Senior Producer said.

OpenText’s integration with creative applications was a major advantage, allowing users to find assets without leaving their workflow.
With OpenText Digital Asset Management, the organization manages video content more efficiently and accelerates creative production.
Each home game generates significant volumes of video content, requiring a robust DAM system. “Having a platform that can handle this level of data reliably is critical,” said the Senior Producer.
Editors can now access content immediately without searching across systems. “There are no longer barriers to the creative process—teams can get to work instantly,” said the Senior Producer.
Other departments can now self-serve content directly from the DAM platform. “Teams across the organization can find exactly what they need without relying on video editors,” said the Senior Producer. Automation of metadata and file naming eliminates extensive manual effort each season.
