For more than a decade, R-DEX Systems has been developing cutting-edge solutions that incorporate AI, robotics, and advanced sensor technologies. Based in Woodstock, Georgia, the company works with clients in the defense and commercial sectors, helping them minimize costs, drive efficiency, and boost sustainability.
Robert Bock, chief executive officer at R-DEX Systems, said, “We have two sides to the business: We develop AI solutions for the military, and robotics and warehouse automation solutions for commercial clients. Innovation is in our DNA, and we are always keen to embrace the latest-and-greatest tech to help clients enhance their processes.”
In recent years, R-DEX Systems has seen many companies adopt IoT solutions, using sensors to manage and track operational equipment and other assets. While this approach holds the potential to unlock valuable outcomes such as end-to-end workflow automation and predictive maintenance, users often encountered significant challenges.
“Companies are deploying IoT solutions across their supply chain, but many struggle to ingest sensor data at scale,” added Bock. “They often end up with countless data silos that take a huge amount of time and effort to break down and analyze. As a result, users are missing out on the key insights that they need to optimize their operations.”
Identifying a gap in the market, R-DEX Systems started to plan a set of new offerings that would help clients make the most of their IoT data. To develop and launch the solutions, the company would need a powerful, scalable IoT platform to connect to and pull data from many sensors and support in-depth analytics and customized reporting.
“We wanted to offer business intelligence at scale to companies that were struggling with siloed sensor data,” explained Bock. “Specifically, we looked to help users to gain up-to-the-minute insights and comprehensive visibility over their operations.”

To provide the foundations for the new client offerings, R-DEX Systems selected OpenText Aviator IoT—a scalable, secure, AI-powered platform—for the management and real-time analysis and visualization of IoT sensor data.

During the selection process, R-DEX Systems searched for an enterprise-grade platform that would enable the integration, aggregation, and analysis of data from an extremely wide range of sources. After reviewing various potential vendors and consulting with clients, the company identified a standout option: OpenText Aviator IoT.
Bock commented, “OpenText has an excellent reputation, especially among our military clients. The Aviator IoT platform offered exceptional scalability and security capabilities, and there really was nothing else on the market to compare in terms of ease of use and the ability to customize the platform to meet the requirements of different clients.”
R-DEX Systems worked closely with OpenText to deploy the OpenText Aviator IoT platform. Initially, the company met with OpenText solution consultants to map out detailed requirements before implementing the solution and developing new offerings for clients.
“It was a very smooth implementation,” added Bock. “The support from the OpenText sales and solution teams has been very responsive throughout. It feels like we are working with a small company, as OpenText are so agile. The whole experience has been amazing.”
Today, R-DEX Systems continues to build customized IoT solutions for clients based on the OpenText platform. For example, the company is creating an offering that will enable defense clients to pull data from vehicles and equipment stored across their depots, helping them track assets and identify opportunities to increase supply chain efficiency.
“OpenText Aviator IoT is a comprehensive platform that gives us such a broad array of capabilities,” said Bock. “The flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of Aviator IoT—it’s far from a one-size-fits-all solution. We can create customized dashboards for clients, and we can even add extra sensors and other hardware to feed more data into the mix.”

Using OpenText Aviator IoT, R-DEX Systems is helping clients connect and analyze data from countless IoT sources, breaking down silos and unlocking fine-grained insights. Users can gain a comprehensive overview of their equipment, including the location, performance, and usage of critical assets, and the efficiency and effectiveness of their processes.
“We like to say that we are bringing more of the physical world into the digital realm,” noted Bock. “When we think about IoT, we typically think about small pressure or temperature sensors. With the OpenText solution, we can pull data from many more sources, including robotics systems, to help clients build a clearer picture of their operations.”
For R-DEX clients, deeper insights into equipment performance will open the door to major process enhancements, such as predictive maintenance. The centralized dashboards in the OpenText solution will enable users to track the condition of assets, identify trends, and make informed decisions on when to complete repairs, helping to mitigate risk and reduce costs.
Bock added, “For military and commercial clients, any vehicle or equipment failure could cause severe disruption to the supply chain and lead to heavy repair costs. By using the OpenText solution to pull and analyze usage data, we can help clients identify the best time to renew individual components or replace the entire equipment.”
R-DEX Systems is also using the OpenText platform to help another client in the defense sector adopt more sustainable operational processes. “Using OpenText Aviator IoT allows us to provide granular data tracking the client’s environmental performance as they make the transition to cleaner energy sources,” explained Bock.
