OpenText Widget Services delivers a “show and tell” experience anywhere on the Web while you maintain control of your digital content

OpenText Widget Services provide an easy way of packaging and deploying digital content to the Web. Widgets are small Web applications embedded in a Web page that presents your content in a rich media, immersive experience. From the widget you can preview and download documents, PDFs, and images.

Widget Services connects storage repositories to the widget publishing platform. Widget Manager lets you create and manage your widgets. Select the Adobe Flash-based template for your widget, add content and it’s ready to embed in a Web page.

Control Your Content

Published content in the widget is “tethered,” which simply means the content is sourced from a repository, such as the OpenText Enterprise Library, and is not stored in Widget Services. Any updates to the original content will be reflected when the widget is loaded, and the widget author can change the content contained in the widget, even if it has been placed outside the system.

Track Your Content

Focusing on engagement and consumption, Widget Services tracks what happens after the widget is published. It tracks where and when the widget was placed in a Web property and where and when it was loaded. Widget Services will also report the engagement of individual items in a widget, what documents and images were viewed, and what was downloaded.

Social Media and Sharing

Widget Services supports users sharing content for social media and external sites. The embed code can be cut and pasted into any Web page to “seed” external and social sites. Since you control the content, inconsistent branding and messaging or undesirable usage is eliminated.

Widget Scenarios

Widget Services reduces the amount of effort and costs associated with distributing and syndicating marketing, video, and other digital assets:

  • Distribute content to external sites: Product documentation and support materials such as product manuals, warranties, installation instructions, and release notes.
  • Distribute content within the organization: HR policies, employee handbooks, on-boarding documentation, application package and forms, and internal procedures.
  • Distribute corporate marketing and branding material to partners: Brochures, campaign materials, templates, whitepapers, presentations, and collateral.

Widget Services supports the Customer Experience Management solutions in the OpenText ECM Engagement Suite. It complements OpenText products and can be added on anytime as an extension.
