OpenText Construction Management

Streamline the design, building, operation and maintenance of construction-related projects

Construction is a fragmented industry. A typical project is made up of independent parties working together under a construction manager. Architects, designers, engineers, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers must coordinate their efforts across different locations, often using disparate technologies developed specifically for their professions.

As design and construction teams are under increased pressure to reduce risk, control costs and optimize project schedules, Web-based collaboration promises to help coordinate design and build activities to provide better quality and shorter time-to-market.

Benefits

  • Streamline design, building, and operation
  • Quickly form virtual project teams
  • Reduce the risks associated with inaccurate information
  • Improve competitiveness
  • Easily track documents
  • Leverage best practices
  • Reduce costs

As a Web-based collaborative environment, OpenText Construction Management (formerly Livelink ECM - Construction Management) gives geographically dispersed members of a team access to projects, processes and information via the Internet.

Features

  • Gather and index information: Find relevant knowledge using Construction Management's advanced search functionality, including: full-text, metadata, XML and natural language searching; result ranking, summarization, clustering and hit-highlighting; the ability to save queries, result snapshots and search templates; Find Similar functions, and much more.
  • Attach metadata to indexed information: Organize, categorize and classify knowledge in workspaces, folders, compound documents, and more. Maintain version histories and use check-in/check-out for version control. For each item, control access using up to nine levels of permissions and review audit trails. Monitor changes using reports and notifications.
  • Navigate the repository in Windows Explorer: Effectively manage large quantities of files by dragging and dropping Windows files and folders directly into the repository.
  • Audit object histories and changes: Use Construction Management's comprehensive audit trail functionality to automatically record date and time of action, who performed the action and a description of the action, as well as document activities such as who worked on it, reserved it, and more.
  • Create workflows and assign tasks: Construction Management's graphical Java-based Workflow Designer enables you to drag and drop steps and assignees, attach documents or other objects, create sub-workflows, define conditional loopbacks, set milestones and specify project details such as deliverables and due dates.
  • Form virtual project teams: Create a shared environment in which everyone on the team can access project-related information from source documents, to project participants and their roles, to an overview of projects, workflows, steps and tasks.
  • Create project workspaces and discussions: Construction Management enables project managers to create project home pages places where they can store project plans, manage project changes, and otherwise provide an area where project members can collectively look for the information relevant to their projects.
  • Grant permissions: Configure up to nine levels of permissions to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Create document generations: Create static pointers to specific versions of documents at a given point in time to create a generation or to specify published versions.
