Course Description

The OpenText System Center Manager (OTSCM) application allows you to automate and simplify the process of installation, configuration, patching, and updating various OpenText software products, such as Content Suite/Content Server.

This course provides users with the information and skills necessary to install and configure OTSCM and its Agent on a Windows Server. OTSCM functionality is demonstrated and practiced in this course through the patching and updating of a Content Suite/Content Server environment.

The course also demonstrates the ability for OTSCM to utilize execution plans to perform automated or unattended installations of OpenText software products, such as Content Server (OTCS) or Directory Services (OTDS).

Highlights:

  • Install and configure OTSCM and Agents
  • Patch and update OpenText products like Content Suite
  • Create and run Execution Plans to perform unattended installations of Content Server or update products like Directory Services (OTDS)
  • Configure OTSCM to use OTDS user account to manage specific systems

On completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the basic functionality that OTSCM provides to support and manage OpenText software applications like Content Suite/Content Server
  • Install both OTSCM and its Agent, then apply mandatory updates
  • Create local OTSCM users to manage OpenText applications, and learn about OTDS integration with System Center Manager
  • Register systems that have an OTSCM Agent installed, discover which OpenText products are installed on a System, and enable selected products on a System so OTSCM can manage its patches and updates
  • Add patches to OTSCM, then deploy or install patches to a Content Suite/Content Server instance
  • Use OTSCM to apply an update and Language Packs to Content Suite instance
  • Describe how OTSCM can be used to perform automated or unattended installations of OpenText products using execution plans
