Course Description

This two-day course provides participants with the knowledge necessary to configure OpenText's xECM for Engineering and its main components. Integrated with the Extended ECM platform, xECM for Engineering provides engineers and supporting personnel with a secure, collaborative web-based environment to create, capture, review, and manage both completed and work-in-progress engineering drawings or documents.

Students will get an overview of Extended ECM for Engineering and preview the main tasks performed by business administrators. They will learn about working with Master Document Workspaces and Project Workspaces, managing roles, as well as creating and modifying State Flows. Other topics such as managing Revision Control definitions, configuring Automatic Document Numbering (ADN) and working with Transmittals will also be covered in the course.

• Get an overview of xECM for Engineering, its benefits, and components
• Create a new xECM for Engineering system from Content Server with basic functionality available at the end of the course
• Define workspace types and templates as well as custom classifications and attributes
• Modify and create new perspectives, defining the view of Master Document Workspaces, Projects, Transmittals, and more
• Create and edit State Flows, transitioning documents through an organized workflow
• Define Automatic Document Numbering (ADN) patterns to uniquely identify new documents in the Master Document Workspace
• Work with CAD bindings, CAD Attribute Maps and CAD attributes to map 2D CAD file attributes to Content Server attributes
• Create and manage Transmittal workspaces and their functionality
• Test various features of the newly created xECM for Engineering system at the end of the course
