OpenText Business Integration Studio is a graphical development environment for rapidly integrating business applications, processes and information. Business Integration Studio facilitates integration of OpenText's Web content management, social media, and portal management applications with disparate applications and content repositories inside and outside the enterprise.

Business Integration Studio is the ideal solution for any organization seeking to provide relevant and timely information within their Web sites, portals and other applications, while easily leveraging existing investments in information systems, business applications and processes.

It is estimated that as much as 80 percent of the content needed to support effective online business and consumer interactions exists in an enterprise's disparate back-office, desktop, legacy and custom applications. The real challenge for many enterprises is establishing access to and from these content sources. Business Integration Studio's ability to integrate with and unify enterprise information systems can speed development, testing and deployment times while helping to reduce the costs of building and maintaining enterprise web applications.

Features and Benefits

Content integration workbench

A graphical development and testing environment that integrates content to and from applications, repositories and other sources residing inside or outside the enterprise for rapid development, management and deployment of rich applications.

Packaged integration adapters

Integrate with enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, back-office systems), legacy applications, databases, and other content repositories inside and outside of your organization.

Integration with OpenText Web Experience Management

Facilitates the management of integrated content, including applying workflow, library services, secure deployment processes, and integrating content in user-defined content types within OpenText Web Experience Management.

Integration with OpenText Portal

Expose back-office applications like SAP and Peoplesoft to OpenText Portal through OpenText Portal Builder. Business Integration Studio generates a Web service that can be consumed by OpenText Portal Builder.

Intuitive wizards

Wizards that accelerate the deployment of the integration processes.

Flexible deployment

Deploy content integration processes as standard Java processes (EJB, JavaBeans, .jar), Microsoft Windows processes (COM, .exe) and Web services, on multiple operating systems, without writing any code. The same integration process diagram may be deployed in multiple forms to multiple operating environments, without change.

Available Integration Adapters

Pre-packaged integration adapters are available as add-on modules for connecting to specific enterprise applications and information sources. Adapters are available for the following applications and platforms:

  • Technology Adapters are plug-ins to Business Integration Studio that provide prepackaged integrations to common technology. Technology Adapters include specialized adapters for OpenText Media Management, Unstructured Content, MQ Series, IBM Content Manager, IBM Lotus Notes, Microsoft MQ, Microsoft Exchange, COM, EDI, EJB, FTP, Flat Files, HTTP, CORBA (Iona Orbix), Java BeanS, JDBC, JMS, LDAP, ODBC, SNMP, and XML.
  • Adapter for Microsoft Office enables business users to create and manage information using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Adapter for IBM Lotus Domino facilitates access to data maintained within Lotus Domino databases. Because the Lotus Domino adapter provides direct access to Domino via server-side APIs, multiple simultaneous logins are permitted. This provides a more scalable content integration solution, with content and information managed within Lotus Domino databases, but delivered in context through OpenText Web Experience Management and OpenText Portal applications.
  • Adapter for Oracle AQ (Advance Queuing) sends and receives messages, browses the message queue, connects, receives messages and supports roll-back to previous transactions.
  • Adapter for WinFax Pro integrates the send and receive features of Symantec WinFax Pro for integration into portals and Web applications. Any application with a print method can be connected to the WinFax Pro Adapter, allowing their associated documents to be distributed as faxes.
  • Adapter for JD Edwards leverages the application data of your JD Edwards implementation. It supports automatic data mapping, selects application tables and fields and updates the OneWorld system with information and system changes.
  • Adapter for PeopleSoft is a flexible adapter for accessing and exchanging content contained in PeopleSoft applications. It leverages pre-built PeopleSoft components, queries, message agents and security mechanisms and allows their inclusion as components in portals and Web applications. The PeopleSoft Adapter supports two-way exchange of content for wider exposure and easier access by customers, partners and employees.
  • Adapter for SAP Solutions enables the exchange of content contained in SAP systems for inclusion as components in portals and Web applications. It leverages pre-built and existing SAP objects, documents, functions and processes.
