3331 Vignette Collaboration: System Administration

Duration: 2 Days

This course prepares System Administrators for creating and maintaining Vignette Collaboration 7.2 deployments and explores the architecture of the Collaboration server and core server components, and discusses troubleshooting techniques and best practices for administration.

Each participant is provided with his or her own Collaboration 7.2 environment. Using the Server Console, participants examine configuration options, log files, background processes, scheduling options, and services. They will also synchronize Collaboration with an external LDAP directory to support LDAP authentication and user/group management, and work with the Autonomy Search and Indexer configuration to perform administration tasks such as rebuilding the index and troubleshooting with standard Autonomy commands.

Participants also manually create a new Collaboration database, configure the Collaboration database to handle a failure, and integrate Collaboration with a third party web server. Lastly, they will learn how to configure and support a cluster of Collaboration servers.

By the end of the course you will learn how to:

• Describe the Collaboration Server architecture and object model.
• Identify key server components
• Configure Collaboration services and properties.
• Create Collaboration users and groups.
• Synchronize users and groups with an external LDAP directory.
• Secure content using access policies.
• Import and export Collaboration data.
• Rebuild the search index.
• Create a fresh Collaboration database.
• Configure Collaboration database failover.
• Integrate Collaboration with a third party web server.
• Configure a Collaboration cluster.

Audience:

This course is intended for individuals responsible for the installation and configuration of the Collaboration application.

Prerequisites:

The course assumes no prior knowledge of Vignette Collaboration. Some knowledge of basic web administration is recommended.
