3141 Enterprise Connect Installation, Configuration and Administration

Duration: 2 days

This two-day hands-on course is designed for Enterprise Connect administrators looking to install, configure, and administer Enterprise Connect to allow users to interact with their OpenText applications and content within familiar desktop environments such as Windows Explorer, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office. Participants will learn the basics of Enterprise Connect, its pre-installation requirements, and how to set up the server and client components.

This session is geared to current and future Enterprise Connect administrators who will be installing and configuring the Enterprise Connect server as well as supporting the Enterprise Connect clients. It also covers how to create business-centric views (using Enterprise Views Services) and has participants create their own sample views (i.e. tree structure).
On completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and key features of Enterprise Connect.
  • Explain the application and solution modes of Enterprise Connect.
  • Describe the components and general architecture of Enterprise Connect.
  • Summarize the pre-built Enterprise Connect integrations.
  • Explain two pre-packaged plug-ins included with Enterprise Connect.
  • Perform pre-installation steps for all components of Enterprise Connect.
  • Install Runtime and Core Web Services and the Open Text Administration Client.
  • Configure the Runtime and Core Web Services Administration Client for Enterprise Connect Server.
  • Deploy the Enterprise Connect modules to Livelink Enterprise server.
  • Install the Enterprise Connect Client Framework and supported plug-ins.
  • Introduce Enterprise Views Services and its purpose in an Enterprise Connect implementation.
  • Explain the components of Enterprise Views.
  • Create their own basic tree structure for Enterprise Connect Clients running in solution mode using Enterprise Views Services.
  • Perform some of the basic troubleshooting techniques for troubleshooting Enterprise Connect and Enterprise Views Services.

Audience:

Intermediate to Advanced Administrators.

Prerequisites:

Participants must have:

  • Previous experience with Microsoft Windows.
  • An understanding of OpenText eDOCS DM and/or Content Server (as applicable) is helpful and will ensure that students get more out of this course.
  • Familiarity with Runtime and Core Web Services would be helpful but is not necessary.
