Open Text Announces Enterprise Process Services To Define Content Flows in Organizations
Helps Enterprises Put Content in the Hands of Users When and Where They Need It; One of Three New Content Services Introduced by Open Text Today
LiveLinkUp 2007, Orlando, FL - 2007-10-22 - Open Text™ Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced Open Text Enterprise Process Services, a comprehensive set of business process management (BPM) capabilities designed to make it easier than ever before for enterprises to flexibly and conveniently deliver content to users within the context of business processes. With Open Text Enterprise Process Services, users can design processes for any business content and manage the flow of that content both within and between departments to improve operations and meet business requirements.
Open Text Enterprise Process Services is one of three new content services announced today at Open Text’s LiveLinkUp 2007 conference. The three form the basis for a next-generation content management framework that takes a unique, repository-agnostic approach to ECM, eliminating the content and process silos created by different systems by decoupling the user experience from the underlying information repository
The new Open Text Enterprise Process Services provides full-featured content-centric BPM that is essentially decoupled from a single application and offered as a shared service that can be utilized by major enterprise systems, such as SAP and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, as well as the full range of Open Text products. It features a robust set of user interface design tools that let customers quickly prototype and deploy processes that integrate with existing desktop applications, such as Microsoft Outlook. Open Text Enterprise Process Services is particularly powerful for Livelink ECM – eDOCS customers, giving them access to a far more robust process management capability for content than exists in current eDOCS products.
“Open Text has deep experience in document-centric, ERP-related processes such as accounts payable. The company’s BPM strength lies in its user interface design, which allows linkage with the user’s business context,” wrote Forrester Research analysts Craig Le Clair and Colin Teubner in a report published on July 9, 2007 titled “Open Text Brings Strong UI Design to Document-Centric BPMS.”
“We spent considerable effort talking to our customers at very large and mid-sized enterprises, and at government agencies, about their requirements,” said Kirk Roberts, President, Livelink ECM Division at Open Text. “We heard loud and clear about how important it is that content be delivered in the context of business processes, and that it had to be available through a familiar user environment. Given the rapid pace of change, flexibility in design and changing solutions were critical. We are confident that Open Text Enterprise Process Services embodies these requirements.”
Open Text Enterprise Process Services’ key capabilities include:
Open Text Enterprise Process Services is available now for Livelink ECM and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2003 and 2007. BPM services for Livelink ECM – eDOCS will be available in the first quarter, 2008. Open Text will extend Open Text Enterprise Process Services to Artesia DAM and RedDot later in 2008.
