One of the Nation’s Largest Law Firms To Expand Deployment of Open Text LegalKEY® Records Management™ Solution
Pittsburgh-based Law Firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Will Make Records Management Technology Available to All Attorneys to Ensure Comprehensive Management of Electronic and Physical Client Information Throughout the Firm
ARMA ’06 Conference, San Antonio, TX - 2006-10-25 - Open Text™ Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the largest independent provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, today announced that Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, one of the largest law firms in the nation, is significantly expanding its deployment of the Open Text LegalKEY® Records Management™ solution. The expansion accommodates the increase in lawyers and support staff due to the firm’s merger in July 2006, when Buchanan Ingersoll PC and Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling PC merged to form Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC.

As a result of the merger, approximately 250 Klett Rooney attorneys, government affairs professionals and staff members joined Buchanan's more than 900 employees, creating one of the largest law firms in the country with more than 500 attorneys. While Klett Rooney had already been using LegalKEY Records Management, Buchanan’s record management needs were being fulfilled by two separate providers. Based on Klett Rooney’s positive experience with the performance and functionality of LegalKEY Records Management and the ease to which the Open Text application would integrate seamlessly with the firm’s existing software, the decision was made to implement LegalKEY Records Management exclusively throughout Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney.

“LegalKey Records Management is the application that best fits Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's strategy for our matter centric approach to content management,” said Allan R. Henigin, Chief Information Officer at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. “It fits well with the processes we have designed and have been implementing over the past several years.”

LegalKEY Records Management, a core component of Open Text Legal Solutions, provides law firms with a single interface for the comprehensive management of all electronic and physical information related to a client/matter file, regardless of source of origin or media type. It is designed to help law firms minimize risk, and to accommodate multi-tiered retention and destruction policies and risk management protocols. Records professionals can perform full-text indexing on all electronic documents, e-mails and attachments, and document images to provide for the most precise searches possible, making it easy for staff to request, reserve, or modify the information. With LegalKEY Records Management, law firms improve departmental efficiencies by accelerating the recording process and eliminating data integrity issues associated with manual records management practices.

“As a result of the merger, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney had an important choice to make—‘Which technology provider could best match the records management needs of their combined firm?’” said Bill Forquer, Executive Vice President, Compliance Solutions Business at Open Text. “We couldn’t be more pleased that they recognized the unparalleled sophistication, flexibility, and ease-of-use of the LegalKEY Records Management solution and chose to expand the deployment of the product firm-wide.”
