Open Text Extends SAP® Solution Integration, Introduces New Version of IXOS Suite for SAP Solutions at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2004
Offers Content Integration for SAP NetWeaver
GARTNER SYMPOSIUM/ITxpo, Orlando, FL. - 2004-10-20 - Open Text™ Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the world’s largest provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, today introduced a major extension of its suite of ECM products that integrate with the complete range of SAP® solutions, including financial, human resources and other business applications. Open Text announced the news at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2004, underway this week in Orlando, Florida. Open Text is a Premier Sponsor for the event and appears in Premier Sponsor Booth #9.
IXOS Suite for SAP solutions lets customers store, manage, retrieve and archive documents from SAP systems such as mySAP™ ERP Financials and mySAP Human Capital Management. The solution integrates all business documents into SAP solutions and promotes the consistent flow of information between employees, customers, suppliers and business partners. Today, more than two million users at some 2,200 installations worldwide rely on IXOS Suite for SAP solutions. The new version of the product, Version 6.0, leverages the company’s market leadership in document management and data archiving, with new functionality such as complete integration with SAP NetWeaver™ to help customers reduce costs and improve business processes.
Customers already testing the new version of IXOS Suite for SAP solutions include Uhlmann Pac-Systeme GmbH & Co., a global manufacturer of packaging for the pharmaceutical industry. "We work closely with pharmaceutical companies in developing new, integrated production strategies that will ensure the demand-generated supply of healthcare products worldwide,” said Helge Stührmann, Information Technology Organizer at Uhlmann Pac-Systeme. “The new solution will enable us to access all information related to a technology project or customer to significantly improve collaboration, productivity and customer satisfaction."
The major new feature in the new version of IXOS Suite for SAP solutions is integration with SAP NetWeaver. SAP NetWeaver lets customers standardize on a single ERP software platform. This core platform reduces costs for customers by offering a comprehensive set of business applications and the ability to integrate with other systems. By integrating with SAP NetWeaver, IXOS Suite for SAP solutions provide a similar standard platform for managing documents and other content—a central repository that links with other systems to provide more cost-effective information management and easier access to documents. “In large companies today, multiple business units and a variety of different business applications make it difficult to find information. Sometimes answering a simple customer question can be a challenge,” said Michael Heckner, Senior Director for Enterprise Application Extension Solutions at Open Text. “With this enhanced version of IXOS Suite for SAP solutions, we bring order to disparate islands of content, making access to information easier, even for occasional users.”
SAP Enterprise Portal lets companies extend the reach of applications to occasional users, customers and partners. IXOS Suite for SAP solutions fully support that extended reach by providing a simple, Windows Explorer-like user interface that enables navigation of SAP ArchiveLink documents in SAP Knowledge Management.
Cross System Customer or Project Folders:
IXOS Suite for SAP solutions Version 6.0 provides a means of consolidating business content across applications, so users can access all the documents on a particular subject, no matter where they reside. For example, an Accounts Receivable clerk managing an invoice dispute can access a single customer folder with information from many different systems. This eliminates the “paper chase” across different systems to get the necessary information needed to resolve the dispute, ultimately reducing Days Sales Outstanding and bad debt write-offs.
Cross-Application Workflow:
IXOS Suite for SAP solutions extends the reach of its process workflows to include steps that occur outside of the SAP system, either before or after the SAP system. This allows new workflow processes that integrate users outside the SAP system and reduces the amount of time that is wasted routing documents in a business transaction.
IXOS Suite for SAP will be among the broad range of solutions Open Text will present at its upcoming annual user conference LinkUp Phoenix 2004, being held this year in Phoenix, Arizona, November 15-18. For more information, go to: www.opentext.com/linkup/
