CNN's Lou Dobbs and NPR’s David Weinberger to Keynote at Open Text’s LiveLinkUp 2003 in Orlando
Experts from Deloitte & Touche, BearingPoint, T-Systems and Northwestern’s Kellogg School Explore Compliance, Corporate Governance
Chicago, Il - 2003-10-01 - Open Text™ Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and content management software for the global enterprise, today announced that CNN’s Lou Dobbs and National Public Radio's (NPR) David Weinberger will keynote at LiveLinkUp Orlando 2003 which takes place November 3-6.

Along with Dobbs and Weinberger will be a host of experts and executives from leading organizations, including Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Deloitte & Touche, BearingPoint and Gartner. Providing the customer keynote address will be Dr. Ellen Walther-Klaus, senior executive vice president and CIO for T-Systems International GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, and a provider of IT and telecommunications solutions. These industry leaders, Open Text customers and executives will come together at LiveLinkUp Orlando to discuss the challenges and strategies for addressing new corporate governance laws and other industry regulations. Compliance issues have become the top concern of managers from the “C” level down, with the growth of new laws passed to improve corporate governance and homeland security.

As one of the U.S.’s best-known journalists, Lou Dobbs reported extensively on last year’s accounting scandals and interviewed people at the center of the corporate governance storm. Dobbs covers the full spectrum of business and economic issues as the anchor and managing editor of CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight. Dobbs also anchors a nationally syndicated financial news radio report, The Lou Dobbs Financial Report, and is a columnist for Money Magazine, The New York Daily News and U.S. News and World Report. Dobbs will bring a unique perspective on how businesses will operate in this new era of transparency.

David Weinberger is a commentator on NPR’s All Things Considered and co-author of The Cluetrain Manifesto, a bestseller that told business that on the Web customers are in charge. Weinberger's writing about the Web's effect on business, society and ideas has appeared in Wired, Salon, Harvard Business Review and many others. Weinberger will serve as the real-time "beat-reporter" for the conference, soliciting insights from attendees and experts that will culminate in a keynote report presenting the user's-eye view of Open Text.

  • Dr. Robert C. Wolcott, a Fellow of the Center for Research in Technology & Innovation at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Wolcott conducts research and teaches at both Kellogg and Northwestern’s School of Communications, and recently co-founded the Kellogg Innovation Network, a global network of senior executives dedicated to driving sustainable innovation. He has taught globally at the HKUST (Hong Kong) and the Keio Business School, Japan. Wolcott will discuss how markets, networks and innovation come together to help companies thrive in today's difficult economic climate.


  • Toby Bell, research director, Knowledge Workplace at Gartner, is responsible for integrated document archive and retrieval systems (IDARS), distributed output management hardware and software, and workflow/business process management. He also covers content management, document management, document imaging, e-Forms and document automation. Prior to joining Gartner, Bell was a senior manager and director within a Big 5 consulting firm. He has also held key management positions in large and small business advisory services organizations, including Ernst & Young. Bell will provide his perspective on the technologies that are at the heart of the compliance challenge.


  • Dr. Ellen Walther-Klaus is the senior executive vice president and CIO, eEnabling & Relationship Management, for T-Systems International in Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Walther-Klaus has been instrumental in developing advanced knowledge management capabilities for T-Systems.
