The Region of Peel Chooses Open Text's Livelink
Toronto Area Municipality Selects Livelink for Enterprise Collaboration and Knowledge Management
Waterloo, ON - 2002-05-28 - Open Text™ Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, today announced that the Region of Peel (a Regional Municipality of one million citizens west of Toronto, Ontario) has selected Open Text's Livelink to enhance and further extend its commitment to delivering effective government services economically through technology.
In March of 2001, the Region of Peel selected iRIMS™, Open Text's records management solution, to fulfill its corporate records requirements. At the same time the Region of Peel began three separate pilot projects using Livelink to manage its electronic information as a whole. Livelink was deployed at the Region of Peel and was evaluated to meet the requirements of the following business units within the organization:

The Region of Peel views leading edge technology, like Livelink and its records management solution, as essential to efficient and cost-effective program and service delivery. The Region's solution demonstrates how Livelink's collaboration and knowledge management functionality can be integrated with iRIMS to provide a robust and highly secure records management solution that is U.S Department of Defense 5015.2 certified.
"Open Text provided us with the means to satisfy multiple applications within various departments of the organization. As a result of selecting the scalable Web-based platform architecture of Livelink, we are confident that it will not only be able to continue to satisfy our pilot areas, but that further applications will be enabled using Livelink to service many other needs," said Mike Proudlock, Manager of Corporate Project Development at the Region of Peel. "The fact that Open Text has a unified technology in Livelink and iRIMS to manage the lifecycle of content that is created, whether physical documents or electronic information, provides us with the means to achieve sound records management practices at the same time."

- Financial Services: Livelink electronic workflow speeds processes for procurement awards, reducing internal approval processes to one to two days. Previous paper-based processes required four to five days.
- Public Health Services: Livelink helps ensure quality health services by managing and auditing the process of inspecting vaccine refrigeration by health care providers in the Region.
