Open Text Brings Efficiency and Effectiveness to New Product Development Collaboration
Open Text Unveils Livelink for Program Management at LiveLinkUp Europe 2002
Chicago, IL - 2002-05-07 - Open Text™ Corporation, provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, unveiled Livelink for Program Management at its European User Conference—LiveLinkUp Europe 2002. Livelink for Program Management is a comprehensive, Web-based application that accelerates New Product Development (NPD) projects, and other structured collaborative initiatives within an organization.
Livelink for Program Management gives global organizations the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous programs or projects within an individual business unit, division or department. Dispersed companies can use Livelink for Program Management to automate their own proprietary, phased program management methodologies according to predefined "stages" and corresponding "gate" review cycles. Dashboard views of project components are accessed according to roles assigned, enabling organizations to manage every level of a project to optimize resources, reduce costs and ensure program success. Advanced task management allows key participants to define standard deliverables and prerequisites, which are automatically set-up when each new program is initiated. Once underway, participants can set risk levels, assign budget, add new team members and execute the program according to these specifications. Livelink for Program Management allows international teams to communicate, collaborate, report on and track project time, costs, progress and team performance—all from a standard Web browser.
Livelink for Program Management leverages Livelink's proven collaboration and knowledge management functionality to deliver an application focused on solving specific business challenges. All of Livelink's core features—including document management, search, automated forms and workflow, scheduling and real-time collaboration—are fully integrated into this new application designed to improve overall program efficiencies, resulting in faster time-to-market, reduced development costs and greater returns on investment. Livelink for Program Management brings all this together under a framework that allows each customer to implement their own specific best-practices methodologies for large project and program initiatives.
"To be successful in today's economy, organizations need to leverage all of their resources—tangible and intangible. Being able to effectively implement projects and programs before a competitor, delivers a significant competitive advantage," said Anik Ganguly, Open Text's Executive Vice President of Products. "Using Livelink for Program Management, global organizations can better manage the complexities of large projects by tracking all deliverables, related tasks, issues and budget, and collaborating to bring the project or program through to completion."
Ideal for manufactured goods, financial services, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and government initiatives, Livelink for Program Management enables organizations to capture the 'big picture' and leverage work done in parallel and previous programs to effectively manage the product development process. Livelink for Program Management assigns every program its own secure workspace, enabling organizations to capture and share lessons learned to create best practices.
According to IDC, "Executives of manufacturing companies want better management of product development resources to make better product investment decisions and support faster new product introduction. They are aware that less-than-optimum investments and missed schedules indicate poor management of product development processes. This realization creates a high demand environment for new product development management software." (The Emerging Market for Product Development Management Software, by Gisela Wilson, February 2001).
Livelink for Program Management is scheduled for shipment in June of this year. For more information, please join Open Text on May 14, 2002, at 11:00 AM EDT for an on-line seminar that will show how Livelink for Program Management accelerates the New Product Development (NPD) cycles.
