b2bScene Chosen by Exostar for Aerospace Marketplace Collaboration
Exostar Initiative Formed by Aerospace Consortium to Benefit from Hosted Extranet
WATERLOO, ONT - 2000-12-14 - b2bScene™, a division of Open Text™ Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSE: OTC), today announced it has been chosen by Exostar™ to host a secure global extranet for the development of the Exostar aerospace marketplace. Exostar was formed by some of the world’s leading aerospace and defense companies to provide an open Internet trading exchange for aerospace and defense suppliers and buyers of all sizes. Exostar's major aerospace partners include BAE SYSTEMS, The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the Raytheon Company which together control a total combined procurement outlay of $71 billion.
b2bScene’s extranet solution, combined with its suite of value-added on-line services, will help Exostar collaborate with its global community of aerospace companies in real-time over the Web, sharing knowledge and experiences and speeding time to market. b2bScene’s extranet solution uses Open Text’s Livelink(R) to provide an on-line environment for business-to-business collaboration including applications such as document management, group scheduling, business process automation, full-text search, tasks, discussions and more. The solution is offered on a secure, high-performance, reliable hosting infrastructure.
"Exostar required rapid deployment of a global extranet, and b2bScene had it up and running in a matter of days," said Stephen O’Sullivan, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Exostar. "The b2bScene community model unites our staff and customers on-line, accelerating service implementation time, saving us money and enhancing customer service."
"Exostar's extranet is an excellent example of how b2bScene rapidly delivers hosted solutions with its e-Business Community Platform™," said Kirk Roberts, President, b2bScene. "More business-to-business marketplace and portal vendors are looking to b2bScene's technology to unite collaboration, content and commerce on a hosted infrastructure."
According to David Yockelson, Sr. Vice President and Director, Electronic Business Strategies at META Group, " Hosted collaborative technologies such as those provided by b2bScene deliver the agility required by organizations seeking to accelerate their time to market. By rapidly deploying online business communities, these organizations can span internal and external process and relationship boundaries to quickly engage other parties in complex business initiatives."
