Open Text Content World Speaker FAQ
The following questions and answers are designed to help you complete your application, prepare your presentation and register for the conference. If you need more information after reading the information below, please email contentworld@opentext.com.
What is the session format?
Each breakout session is 50-minutes in length. Presenters are expected to deliver 35-40 minutes of content, allowing time for Q&A and feedback form completion. There is a 15 to 20-minute break in between sessions to enable presenters to set up the room and equipment according to their needs.
We suggest you structure your presentation in the following manner:
- Introduction of participating speakers and companies
- Presentation Agenda
- Overview of the specific business or technical content
- Conclusion and Summary
- Questions and answers
We also encourage you to develop a presentation that facilitates audience interaction and participation.
All presentations must be in Microsoft PowerPoint format and include speaker notes for each slide, in order to be included in the conference Proceedings. We will provide a presentation template to selected presenters. However, use of your own corporate template will be permitted. Graphical content, including screen shots from your application, is highly recommended.
How are sessions chosen?
At Open Text Content World a committee will select presentations based on the quality of the submission, the relevance of the overall attendee base and the success and innovation of hte solution.
How will I be notified?
We will contact you via email to confirm if your application has been accepted and identify any additional items to complete the application process.
Do I register for the conference?
Yes, after your application has been accepted, you must register for the conference.
We offer one discount per organization per session presented. In order to receive the discounted Speaker Fee of $897 (50% of the standard price), you must register with the email address that you provided to us in the speaker application. After your application has been accepted, we will send you an email asking you to register. If you do not use the specified email address when you complete the registration form, your registration fee will not be discounted and you will be billed at the full conference rate.
Can I choose the date and time of my session?
Open Text determines the date, time, and room location for all breakout sessions. If you have a date or time constraint for your presentation, please let us know when you submit your session proposal. We will accommodate requests wherever possible, but cannot guarantee a specific time slot.
What equipment is available in each breakout room?
All breakout rooms are arranged in theater style and are equipped with a screen, projector, podium, microphone and flipchart.
Only a few rooms will have access to the internet. If you require an internet connection during your presentation, please select Yes on the Speaker Application Form.
Please note: Presentations with 'virtual presenters' using a speakerphone are not recommended. The sound from the speakerphone is not loud or clear enough to be heard throughout the room.
Is there a presentation template?
A PowerPoint presentation template will be provided, however, use of your own corporate template will be permitted and speaker notes for each slide are requested. Graphical content, including screen shots from your application, is highly recommended.
Do I need handouts for my presentation?
If you wish, you can distribute handouts as part of your presentation. All printing and shipping costs are your responsibility for any handouts you provide.
You do not need to provide copies of your slides to the attendees, since all presentations will be published on Open Text Online, our global user community.
What are conference proceedings?
The conference proceedings are an excellent reference from the conference. Presentations that make up Open Text Content World will be featured on Open Text Online, our global user community. You can review the presentations you attended, and have a chance to learn more about the ones you missed.
I have confidential information in my presentation. How should I present my slides?
For sensitive or confidential information that should not be published in the conference proceedings, you have the option of providing us with a revised version of your presentation for publication.
For sessions that absolutely cannot be printed or video-taped, please cross out the appropriate sections of the Speaker Agreement (PDF), initial the changes, and fax it to 1-519-888-0677 (Attn: Alison Alexander).
