Description:

Attorneys and law firm legal staff are reliant upon applications to deliver daily document-based efficiencies, while adhering to compliance, retention and security. Years ago, document management was implemented to improve document searching, security and retrieval. In 2008, are there productivity gains still to be made with information management-based solutions? Faced with these challenges, one prestigious New Jersey-based law firm made a decision: implement process-changing applications via upgrades to MS Office 2007 and OpenText eDocs DM5. The goal was to have users work in a matter-based system-rather than a discrete document-based system-by extending the traditional matter and file folder metaphor to the electronic world. The firm also desired to consolidate its many "silos" of information into a single location that users could access seamlessly, either independently or from within Outlook.
