Content World 2008

Content Lifecycle Management (SAP)

I'm excited to announce we have launched the Personalized Agenda Builder. You can now preselect your breakout sessions for the conference to secure your space. In doing this you help us ensure we properly size the meeting room space based for the most popular sessions. Also remember that those who pre-register will be given priority to enter the sessions.

I'm also excited to say that we are delivering a green conference and a big part of that is related to the agenda builder. When you complete this Personalized Agenda Builder in advance your agenda will be available to you onsite on our electronic conference navigator. Some additional benefits this device will offer include networking with other delegates, exchanging electronic business cards and participating in the creation of dynamic program content at the conference.

So help us help you by registering your breakout sessions on the Content World site today.  I look forward to seeing you all in Orlando.

The time for Content World is drawing nearer.  If you haven't already planned to do so, we hope you can stay an extra day to attend one of the Industry Peer-to-Peer Meetings to build up your industry network, learn what your peer organizations are doing, share your experiences, and have a unified voice to Open Text about your industry's needs.

Events are being offered for Life Sciences, Energy, US Public Sector and Canadian Public Sector.  There is no extra cost to attend, but we do ask you to pre-register due to the limited number of seats available.  For details on how to register for these events, follow this link:

For the first time, Open Text is offering a dedicated set of sessions specifically to help our current customers understand the risks and rewards of bringing Web 2.0 inspired technology and culture into the workplace.  Our "Enterprise 2.0" sessions to date are shaping up to include a wide variety of best practices, panel discussions and technology overviews.  But in the spirit of 2.0 - we want to hear from you - the customers, prospects, partners and industry pundits - who really care about the next generation of corporate content and the users who create it.

What keeps you up at night about Gen Y entering the management ranks?  How are you getting ready for social networking tools in the office?  What are you doing to update appropriate use policies for blogs and online discussion forums? What kind of cultural change management challenges are on the horizon? We're open to your input - propose a session, nominate a topic, volunteer to chair a round table.  Content World wants your input.
Visit the Content World Community or email us.

Firstly, I wanted to report that we have resolved the navigation difficulties on the Content World Web site.  There were some issues accessing the agenda and breakout session details.  You will now be able to access the high level agenda overview, details on the breakout sessions, and all of the pre- and post-conference training offerings from the landing page of your chosen track.

Also, I'm pleased to announce that approximately 80% of the Open Text Content World program is now live on the Content World Web site!  This percentage is made up of over 150 breakout sessions targeting the ECM Suite, Product Roadmaps, User Experience, Legacy Product views, Industry views, SAP and Microsoft content, and more Customer Stories then we've ever offered!  We will also be adding a set of sessions focused around Enterprise 2.0, which should be visible on the site in early September.

Lastly, as Case Studies are one of the biggest draws at the conference, we are still accepting customer speaking submissions.  Other customers want to here your story, and if your submission is approved you will get a 50% discount off the conference registration rate.

After participating in the last seven LiveLinkUp conferences and reading your feedback over the years, I've come to the conclusion that we can't make the conference be everything to everyone.

Inevitably, there are scheduling conflicts with several of your "need to see" sessions. There may even be sessions you were hoping for that never materialized. My goal is to minimize both of these factors in the program design for Content World.

So here's what we're doing to give you the best possible experience:

1) Repeat all morning roadmap sessions in the afternoon - You'll have to make a choice as to which morning "conference in a conference" track to attend. Picking a track just establishes your primary focus for the conference. It doesn't mean that you're not interested in the other tracks. This year, every roadmap presentation that is delivered in the morning tracks will be repeated in the afternoon program.

2) Increase the number of customer case studies - These are undeniably the most popular sessions at our conference. We are aiming to have over 50 customer case study presentations on a variety of topics, on the agenda. As a result, you'll find that there will be 5-10 customer stories to choose from, at any given afternoon breakout timeslot .

3) Dynamic creation of sessions onsite - We are investigating ways of communicating at the conference so you can help us identify sessions that you were hoping to see, but were not offered. If we receive a certain number of requests on a particular topic, we will develop a session onsite. We have left space in our program design for these sessions on the Thursday afternoon. We'll have all the details ready for you at the conference.

In the meantime, I invite you to browse the program online. If you have any questions, or input about sessions you'd like to attend, but are not currently available, please get in touch with me on the Content World discussion forum.

We've had some requests for help with choosing a track when registering for Content World. Here's a bit of background information to help clarify the program so you can select the track that is best for you We've split the core conference into two components: the morning "Conference in a Conference" and the afternoon "combined Content World."

When you land on the Content World Web site you are asked to choose a track. While many of you are using multiple Open Text solutions, we ask that you choose your primary interest. With this track decision you are only choosing which "Conference in a Conference" morning program you will attend. This will allow us to narrow the view of the morning sessions for you so you can attend sessions that are the most relevant to your situation.

The first question I'm asked when talking to people about this is, "What if I attend the Livelink track, but I want the latest information about Web Content Management?" We've got you covered. The combined Content World afternoon program will repeat key sessions, including product roadmaps and other relevant sessions that will be presented across the morning agendas.

You'll be pleased to hear that breakout sessions throughout the conference are divided into a technical and business focus. This means you can choose sessions that make the most sense for the role you play in your organization.

If you have any further questions about the program, feel free to contact me on the Content World discussion forum here.

Did you know that there's an entire program of pre- and post-conference workshops and courses scheduled to take place in Orlando? Many of these sessions are entirely new or re-vamped and being introduced into the training curriculum for the first time in Orlando.

Here's how to get the most value out of your trip to Content World - register for the conference before September 5 at the Early Bird rate and one regularly priced course/workshop, and add a second course/workshop (of equal/lesser value) for half price. And, if you're not coming to the conference, you can still attend the training. Simply sign up for one or more courses/workshops before September 5 and save 15% off the regular price.

From http://www.opentext.com/contentworld/2008/ choose your primary product interest, select 'Program' and then 'Courses and Workshops' to browse course descriptions. These sessions fill up quickly every year so I urge you to sign up early to secure your spot.

If you have any questions about the training program or are unsure about which course is right for you, email us at training.contentworld@opentext.com, or call +1 519 888 7111, ext. 2343.

As Program Manager for the conference, it's my job to take the lead on making sure that Content World reflects your needs.

Based on your feedback and the latest developments at Open Text, we'll continue to add detail to the program right up to the conference and even onsite.

Here's the deal. I'll keep you updated through this blog on where we are with the program design and you can provide your feedback to me through our new Content World discussion forum.

As soon as the Content World community is ready, we'll post the link on the web site and I'll include it in my blog. Stay tuned!

You'll be pleased to learn you haven't missed out on the Early Bird Special Offers. I can confirm that the Early Bird deadline has been extended to September 5. This means that you can sign up for the conference and pre- or post-conference workshops and courses and still save at least 15%. In fact, if your organization registers a group of 10 or more as part of the Content World Enterprise Program, you can save almost $8,000.

We've recently posted an Agenda Overview to the Web site to give you an idea of what's in store at the conference.

With more peer-to-peer networking opportunities and the new, product-specific morning tracks, this event is growing to reflect your needs. In order to accommodate us, both the JW Marriott and the adjacent Ritz-Carlton will be fully dedicated to Content World. Add it all up and you've got a conference that offers you even greater value this year than ever before.

But don't just take my word for it... We'll publish about 80% of the conference program before the end of July so you'll be able to see exactly what's going on and plan your week in Orlando.

We're continuing to accept customer speaker applications until July 25. If you're interested in presenting a case study about your business or platform solution, there's still time to get your submission in. And did you know that speakers receive a 50% discount off the standard registration fee? There'll be some program updates during the month of August, after these remaining customer case study sessions have been confirmed.
