The City of Toronto will be closing the York-Bay-Yonge off ramp for its demolition. This will affect motorists entering the Entertainment District who are arriving from the west; please adjust your schedule or take TTC or Go Transit to the area.
Motorists can exit the Gardiner Expressway at Jameson and take Lake Shore Boulevard into the City or exit at Spadina Avenue. The exit at Spadina has been adjusted to allow for one lane to enter onto eastbound Lake Shore Boulevard; this change will take place on Monday, April 10. Motorists who choose to take the Spadina exit will not have northbound access to York Street from Harbour Street. Motorists can also exit at Jarvis Street and travel northbound to Richmond Street to work their way west into the City.
Throughout construction, the south lane of eastbound Harbour Street will be closed to traffic.
During the day between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from April 17th to May 31st, there will be no access to the eastbound on-ramp to the Gardiner Expressway at Rees Street. During the day between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. between May 1st and June 15th the contractor will also intermittently use the middle lane on Harbour Street – reducing traffic to one eastbound lane. The City will update twitter for the periodic use of this centre lane located between Lower Simcoe and Bay Streets. Using the lane during the day for demolition work will speed up the work and ensure the contractor does very little overnight demolition work.
Westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway, Lake Shore Boulevard and Queen's Quay will not be affected by this construction.
