Chart Deficiency Tracking (CDT) and e-Signature Modules
OpenText Chart Deficiency Tracking (CDT) enables Health Information Management (HIM) analysts to assign deficiencies to documents that are missing physician signatures. Physicians can then access all deficient medical record documents assigned to them directly from the EMR. Finally, physicians can electronically sign the documents to complete the deficiencies and commit the documents to the OpenText Document Management and Imaging repository.
How OpenText Chart Deficiency Tracking and OpenText e-Signature Module work:
- CDT Module for HIM Analysts
The HIM analyst opens the Chart Deficiency Viewer directly from EMRs like Epic and accesses patient medical records for reviewing all medical record documents. The analyst can create document deficiencies for all documents that are missing signatures. The HIM analyst then assigns the deficient documents to individual physicians required to sign them. - e-Signature Module for Physicians
Physicians receive a deficiency message in their EMR (like Epic) for each medical record document that requires a signature. Upon receipt of a deficiency message, the physician selects the deficiency link within the message to open the first document in the medical record that requires a signature. The physician can review the document and electronically sign or reject the deficiency. This will remove the document from the deficiency list and display the next document in the medical record that requires a signature. This process continues until all deficient documents for a physician are signed electronically by that physician.
Benefits
With Chart Deficiency Tracking, HIM analysts can:
- Easily identify and monitor the status of chart deficiencies
- Assign deficiency-related tasks to physicians, that can be completed by physicians from any location
- Complete charts in compliance with regulatory time and security standards
