OpenText Content Access
for Oracle® Applications

Document access, document archiving, and process collaboration for Oracle applications

Organizations today rely on a wide range of enterprise applications. However, they often must reuse the same business content throughout multiple applications, even though parts of documents may be isolated to specific applications and functions (such as ERP, CRM or customer-specific host applications).

Collecting documents across multiple applications only makes sense if they are logically grouped. Grouping them gives even occasional users the ability to access valuable business information. The structure is the underlying business process.

Benefits

  • Reduced TCO of Oracle applications
  • Enhanced compliance with content regulations
  • Improved preparation for disaster recovery
  • Ensured content security

OpenText Content Access for Oracle Applications provides a means of sharing all unstructured business content, including office documents, scanned images, pictures, video, and more, across applications. This capability enables the organization to make the most of business content no matter where it resides and no matter from where it is accessed. Content Access for Oracle Applications offers a process-oriented and application-spanning view of documents sorted along the right business context.

Features

  • Integrate ECM with Oracle applications: Content Access for Oracle Applications enables you to integrate OpenText's enterprise content management (ECM) with Oracle enterprise applications. You can manage unstructured business documents with OpenText ECM and connect them to processes in Oracle E-Business Suite, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and PeopleSoft applications.
  • Manage the lifecycle of unstructured documents: Research indicates that approximately 80% of business content is unstructured and only 20% is structured content in enterprise applications such as those from Oracle. Content Access for Oracle Applications allows you to manage the complete lifecycle of unstructured business content, such as office documents, PDFs, scanned images, pictures, video, and more.
  • Attach unstructured documents to Oracle transactions: Virtually all business processes are associated with documents such as offers, orders, contracts, and more. Content Access for Oracle Applications makes it easy to find these documents by displaying links to all documents related to a process or transaction in the context of the Oracle user interface.
  • Create virtual views of related content: Unstructured business documents may be stored in multiple locations such as different Oracle applications and OpenText ECM applications. Content Access for Oracle Applications finds documents related to a particular critieria, such as a customer number, from these multiple locations and displays them in a single list.
  • Support scanning of paper documents: Content Access for Oracle Applications provides support for scanning via Kofax Ascent Capture (Kofax products are sold separately). It does this by means of a release script that is configured to take scanned documents from Kofax and release them into the Content Access for Oracle Applications repository.
  • Annotate and view scanned documents: Content Access for Oracle Applications includes a viewer that supports documents in PDF and scanned image formats such as TIFF. In addition to enabling users to view these formats, it also provides the ability to annotate them.
