Open Text Search Technology to Power PDR® Electronic Library on CD-ROM

San Mateo, CA - 1996-10-22 - Open Text Corporation (OTEX:NASDAQ) of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada today announced that it had licensed its textual search and retrieval technology to Physician's Desk Reference, a property of Medical Economics Company Inc. of Montvale, New Jersey.

Medical Economics, a division of The Thomson Corporation providing healthcare information products and services, will incorporate Open Text search technology into its highly-regarded PDR® Electronic Library(TM) on CD-ROM, the reference source of choice for physicians and healthcare professionals.

The first CD-ROMs containing Open Text search technology are expected to be released in January 1997.
