WATERLOO, ON - 1999-09-30 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSE: OTC), the leading provider of collaborative knowledge management and corporate portal solutions, today introduced the Japanese version of Livelink® 8, its award-winning collaborative knowledge management software. In addition to extending an organization s ability to effectively manage corporate knowledge, collaborate and innovate across the enterprise, the Japanese version of Livelink 8 includes translated menus, messages and documentation, as well as a fully supported Japanese search.
The Japanese version of Livelink 8 also supports popular Japanese word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files, including the Japanese version of Microsoft Office products, and Ichitaro from Justsystem. This version of Livelink 8 will be distributed through Open Text's longstanding Japanese partners, Canon Sales Company and Nissho Iwai Corporation.

These modules significantly enhance Livelink s core functionality and can be easily maintained and upgraded, becoming part of the Livelink s inherent feature-set upon installation.
Optional module, Livelink Explorer, is also fully support in this Japanese version of Livelink. Similar to Microsoft® Windows® Explorer, Livelink Explorer provides a familiar graphical, easy-to-navigate environment that allows Livelink users to quickly and intuitively perform Livelink tasks and functions. With drag-and-drop functionality, tree-view and list-view displays and right-click mouse operations for document management, Livelink Explorer offers a powerful optional interface to Livelink s knowledge library.
