LAVA Systems Wins "Best Of AIIM" Award From Imaging Magazine

Prestigious Industry Publication Touts LAVA Enabler's New Integration Capabilities, demonstrated for the First Time at April's Association for Information and Image Management's (AIIM) Annual Trade Show

TORONTO, Ont. - 1997-06-02 - LAVA Systems Inc. (TSE: LVA) today announced it has won a "Best of AIIM" award from Imaging Magazine, which called the company's LAVA Enabler one of the "coolest big picture software" products demonstrated at the show. The magazine's June issue praises the integration capabilities of LAVA Enabler , the tool which ties the core document management, imaging, workflow and COLD capabilities of LAVA 5.0 to line-of-business systems.

"It is one thing to have document management. It is another to have document management work seamlessly with the applications generating the documents," the magazine said of the product's latest enhancement. "While most document management viewers manage to integrate popular applications like Microsoft Word and Excel, LAVA does so for a wide variety of business applications that normally would not be able to communicate with one another."

"We are very pleased to be honored once again by one of the industry's leading publications," said Peter Hamilton, LAVA Systems' president and CEO. "We believe that seamless integration of document management, imaging, workflow and COLD technologies with the applications that run your business is the logical evolution of the market. The recognition of this concept by this influential industry publication validates our belief that line-of-business integration is a critical next step for the document management market."

An enhanced version of the award-winning product, LAVA Enabler , was shown for the first time at this year's AIIM show. The new version includes the LAVA Enabler

Designer, a 32-bit tool that offers a simple user interface for mapping the relationships between data held in line-of-business systems and information managed by the LAVA 5.0 system. The Enabler Designer allows for sophisticated custom integrations to be built at client sites without the need to change a single line of code in either the existing line-of-business system or the LAVA core. Once integration is complete, end users can create, search, retrieve, view, print, modify and route documents from existing host applications.
