Further Strategies and Details Surrounding Government App Store Event Announced at Open Text Event
Event: The Public Sector Reborn: Prospering Despite the Cuts: 22nd September, The Grange Hotel, London
London - 2010-09-24 - Following an Open Text public sector event at The Grange Hotel, London, we would like to draw your attention to further details surrounding Government G-Cloud initiatives including further developments surrounding an Application Store for Government programme.
Government strategy focussing on ICT was discussed around how the public and private sectors are to work increasingly together through consolidation in order to dramatically reduce operational and carbon emission costs.
Details included the confirmation of a Certified Zone and an Open Zone within the app store , providing opportunities for the private sector to develop applications alongside government that will benefit both parties.
Speakers at the event included Simon Lill, Vice President UK Public Sector at Open Text, a senior Cabinet Office Director for the G-Cloud programme and ex-Cabinet Minister The Rt Hon Michael Portillo.
We are very excited to have such a strong affiliation with the G-Cloud programme and are looking forward to the opportunities it presents for system integrators and the wider IT industry as a whole. The insights we heard today from the Government s G-Cloud programme will set the tone for the public-private IT sector landscape way into the future. The ambitions are huge but achievable and will deliver upon the promise to cut carbon emissions and drive down costs whilst increasing value, commented Open Text s Simon Lill.
The Comprehensive Spending Review will focus the minds across Government on the decisions required to steer the course in the coming months; the most economically challenging in recent times. Government departments will look to trusted advisers to optimise efficiency, and Information Management will play a vital role. The IT community needs to adapt to the changing environment and support Government, offering innovative solutions that provide sustainable, measurable returns now, commented The Rt Hon Michael Portillo.
