LAVA Systems Awarded Again For Its Innovative Information Management Technology

Toronto, ON - 1997-07-30 - LAVA Systems Inc. announced today that the company's LAVA Enabler , has been awarded the "Editors' Choice" award by Imaging Magazine from among 17 other highly-rated image enabling products. This is the second time LAVA Systems has won this prestigious award, making it the fourth award for LAVA Systems' innovative information management solutions in the past year.

Mark Young, Imaging Magazine's editor, said: "Imaging Magazine provides its readers with information that makes it easy to choose the best products in the document management and imaging markets.

"LAVA Systems' LAVA Enabler is an excellent product," Young continued. "It offers users a simple, step-by-step solution to document enablement. Winning an "Editors' Choice" Award is an achievement. Winning this award twice is a major accomplishment. Few companies achieve this. LAVA Enabler is now in the running for a Product Of The Year Award. These will be announced in the January 1998 issue of Imaging Magazine."

The LAVA Enabler is a middleware application that, through simple point-and-click capabilities, unites the information processing of existing line-of-business systems with client-based PC applications. No additional programming to these other systems is required. The LAVA Enabler also allows direct access to line-of-business system printed output -- stored in LAVA COLD (computer output to laser disk) - directly from any line-of-business screen.

Peter Hamilton, LAVA Systems' president and CEO, said he is delighted Imaging Magazine has again acknowledged LAVA's advancements in information management technology. "Recognition from the editors for the LAVA Enabler suggests that LAVA is right on target. We provide simple, step-by-step solutions to complete information management within enterprises in an emerging and complex technology."
