Clearnet Chooses Open Text Livelink Intranet for Web-based Knowledge Management

Livelink enables faster client service by giving employees access to critical company knowledge

Waterloo, ON - 1998-01-09 - -- Clearnet Communications Inc. (TSE, ME: NET.A; NASDAQ: CLNTF), a leading national provider of digital wireless communications services, announced today it has chosen Open Text Corporation's (NASDAQ: OTEX) Livelink Intranet as its enterprise application standard for managing knowledge across the company. Clearnet plans to complete its Livelink deployment by early 1998, enabling the company's employees to capture, share, reuse and collaborate on corporate knowledge.

"Our shared hard drives were a data jungle - there were too many versions of documents available, hampering our ability to access information and share knowledge," says Jackie Puchalski, Clearnet's Director, Corporate Information Systems. "Deploying Livelink Intranet enables us to work across different departments and platforms, managing our documents, collaborating on projects and harnessing the knowledge that was previously so widely distributed across the corporate knowledge base. The ability to add users via the browser also presents big savings not only in training, but also in desktop maintenance."

Clearnet client care representatives now access Livelink's knowledge library to quickly retrieve company information required to answer client-related questions over the telephone. "Before implementing Livelink Intranet, our employees were hampered by a paper-based system of retrieval when responding to client questions," says Jeannie Soultanis, Clearnet's Director, Client Care. "Now, it takes them seconds to retrieve information because they rely on Livelink Intranet as the definitive source of the most up-to-date information about the company."

"We are delighted that Clearnet has chosen Livelink as their collaborative knowledge management standard," says Abe Kleinfeld, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Open Text Corporation. "Livelink's Web-based functionality enables rapid deployment across the enterprise and provides industry leading companies such as Clearnet with a highly scalable intranet application suite that automates business processes and helps them better meet their overall corporate objectives."
