Open Text's Enterprise Content Management Solution Strengthens CARE Canada's I Am Powerful Campaign

CARE Canada Creates a Knowledge Repository Using Open Text ECM to Empower Women Around the World

Waterloo, ON - 2009-01-29 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that CARE Canada, a non-profit and non-religious charitable organization, is using Open Text ECM Suite to manage content for the organization's well known I Am Powerful marketing and awareness-raising campaign (www.iampowerful.ca ) designed to promote the empowerment of women globally.

As a member of one of the world's largest independent relief and development federations, CARE International, CARE Canada's mission is to improve the provision of security and well being for the poor in developing regions and war-torn societies. For over half a century, CARE has been bringing emergency relief to those in need around the world.

This past year, when CARE Canada initiated the I Am Powerful campaign, the organization needed a way to organize, store, and share campaign resources internally to ensure branding consistency and use of the most up-to-date information. Many of CARE Canada's users are not highly technical, so the solution had to be user-friendly, interactive, and easily accessible. Having trusted Open Text's ECM solution since 1998 as the foundation for its intranet, named Minerva, CARE Canada adapted the solution as the central place for information storage, knowledge sharing and distribution to help support the campaign.

"I Am Powerful is a relatively new campaign for CARE Canada so we have to be very responsive to new partnership opportunities and ad placements in magazines or on television before they disappear," said Hana Gunn, Campaign Assistant, CARE Canada. "When these opportunities arise, Minerva allows us to easily access all of the information we need, no matter where we are, so we can respond quickly with the latest information and materials."

Based on the Open Text ECM Suite, CARE Canada's I Am Powerful repository contains hundreds of documents including reports, statistical background information, campaign content and information from the organization's various programs around the world that focus on women. CARE associates have the ability to upload information to the folders they have access to from anywhere in the world. An email option notifies them when new documents are added to a particular folder so they can stay attuned with current information. Minerva also allows participants to submit articles and information they want to share with the rest of the organization.
