ECM Market Leader Open Text Kicks Off Content World Conference, Showcases Next Generation Solutions, Best Practices
Product Strategy Focuses on the Open Text ECM Suite, An Integrated Enterprise Approach to ECM
Open Text Content World, Orlando, FL - 2008-11-18 - Open Text (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), said today it is kicking off its largest global conference ever Open Text Content World -- in Orlando, Florida, with plans to showcase the Open Text ECM Suite and next-generation ECM solutions. The event will feature leading Content Experts from across the industry, and an expanded program of breakouts and training sessions, partner events and the company s GlobalStar Awards program.
The Open Text ECM Suite is designed around Open Text s Content Services, a unique services-oriented architecture enabling customer journeys from departmental solutions towards an integrated enterprise-wide ECM strategy. The need to address cross-enterprise ECM requirements -- driven by growing compliance concerns, and the need to do more with less by streamlining processes and reducing costs -- is raising the strategic importance of ECM in organizations today.
"Despite the economic downturn, we re seeing our biggest conference turnout ever because our customers view ECM as strategic to their efficiency, cost management and compliance initiatives," said John Shackleton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Open Text. "ECM is breaking out of its departmental roots, crossing organizational boundaries, and requiring customers to take an enterprise view of their information challenges."
Shackleton adds, "Our next-generation ECM solutions enable our customers to improve their competitiveness during any economic cycle. In the current cycle, now is the time for many to leap their competition with well-managed content flows and collaboration across departments and systems."
Open Text has been building momentum over the last fiscal year: Strong financial results, including a 22% increase in revenues; continued leadership recognition by industry analysts, including in Gartner s recently released Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management; and a steady stream of innovations for the Open Text ECM Suite, including:
- Expanded development of Open Text Content Services (www.opentext.com/news/pr.html?id=1948), the foundation of the Open Text ECM Suite, provides a common set of content services that extend across all major systems and repositories. Open Text further extended Content Services with integrations to its Web and Digital Asset Management solutions.
- An enterprise 2.0 strategy with new social networking, Web, and rich media solutions that help companies leverage the power of wikis, forums, blogs, rich media, tagging, moderation and communities without compromising their requirements for compliance, security and intellectual property management.
- New Open Text ECM Suite solutions that integrate with Microsoft, SAP and Oracle, all strategic partners. Open Text released a new Transactional Content Processing solution and a new version of the Employee Information Management solution for SAP. The company also released six new ECM solutions for Microsoft, including extensions for Microsoft SharePoint and the industry s first integrated archiving and records management for content stored in Microsoft s cloud-based storage component of Windows Azure. Open Text also added to its leadership in Oracle integration with the further extension of its accounts payable solution for Oracle.

This year s finalists are Bruce Power, Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd., GM Europe, HOVENSA, Halliburton, Hasbro Inc., Multiquip, Northrop Grumman, The Supreme Court of the Netherlands and Transport Canada.
