British Insurance Company To Implement LAVA'S Award-Winning Software System

Toronto, ON - 1998-01-30 - Admiral Insurance Services Limited, one of Britain's fastest growing direct insurers, has announced they have signed a group-wide deal to install LAVA Systems' award-winning document management, imaging and workflow solution, starting with a pilot implementation within one of Admiral's motor claims operations. Robert Terry, senior vice-president of LAVA Systems (Europe) said: "LAVA views Admiral as an important client and we see this as further evidence of our continued success within the financial services sector." The initial licence order associated with this deal, excluding services, is $1.2 million.

LAVA Systems has developed what the Gartner Group, a US-based international information technology consulting group, has labelled a "Document Enabled Vertical Application" for claims management. This extends the functionality of an insurance company's line-of-business application to include workflow and access to unstructured data associated with the claim.

LAVA's claims management solution will be tailored for Admiral's motor claims operation, in order to speed claims processing and provide enhanced customer service. Admiral's main insurance application, Policy Management Systems Corporation's I90, will be seamlessly integrated with the LAVA product set.

The claims management system operates in an IBM AS/400 environment and utilises a DB2/400 relational database. Admiral is not new to this type of technology, having previously implemented IBM ImagePlus document management system. The implementation of LAVA safeguards their hardware investment by making use of existing optical storage devices.

John Gress, IT operations manager at Admiral, commented: "After reviewing the marketplace, Admiral concluded that LAVA's solution provided the best functionality and value for money."
