Open Text s Digital Media Group Announces Release of Artesia DAM 6.8

Latest Version of Software Includes Web Services, Enhanced Search, even broader Video Support, and an industry leading graphical Metadata Configuration tool

Chicago, IL - 2008-02-12 - Open Text (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that its Artesia Digital Media Group has unveiled Artesia DAM 6.8 the latest version of its industry-leading digital asset management software. This release reflects the rapid maturation of the overall digital media ecosystem for which the keys to success increasingly are: robust media workflows, broad format support (including HD), ease-of-use, interoperability, and flexibility. With the release of 6.8, Artesia DAM delivers on all these points with enhanced Web services, even better search and discovery (including the ability to search within search results), broad video support with broadcast-quality storage integration, and a unique graphical metadata configuration tool.

Whether talking to marketing directors or network programmers, we ve found customers consistently asking for the features that 6.8 now delivers, said D. Scott Bowen, President of Open Text s Artesia Digital Media Group. Digital asset management is rapidly becoming a mission-critical area for many organizations and Open Text is leading the way in the industry with a wide range of integration options for overall solutions that meet the needs of system integrators, global marketing departments, and even the most modern digital video operations centers.

Artesia DAM 6.8 further embraces the needs of system integrators like us and, for that matter, any organization with a complex digital ecosystem, with its industry-leading commitment to robust interfaces, modularity, and system robustness, noted Chris Rodriguez, a Managing Director in BearingPoint s Technology, Communications, and Media group. For example, with 6.8 we can now leverage true web services to more easily integrate storage systems and rights management with Artesia DAM, all while providing a near 100% High Availability architecture.

Magan Arthur, a Senior Principal Solutions Consultant with Infosys Technologies Media and Entertainment practice, said We have many clients with complex and varied digital media workflows, and Artesia DAM 6.8 extends what was already a system integration-friendly architecture with even further flexibility and simplification that taken together greatly speeds implementation and delivery of either Java or .Net media platforms.

Solutions for the Digital Ecosystem
With Artesia DAM 6.8 customers will continue to experience the intuitive, streamlined interface and workflow found in earlier versions of Artesia DAM, but this latest release also includes many new features that significantly expand the product s scope and functionality, in particular:

  • Web Service interfacesthat allow interoperability with both .Net and Java clients. Major DAM functions are also incorporated, including submitting and monitoring asset import and export jobs, searching for assets, and retrieving and storing asset metadata.

  • Broader video support enables enhanced video logging and transcoding, improved video review and annotations, and an even greater level of flexibility and control of video shots, including shot re-sequencing and seamless playback of multiple shots.

  • New video export facility eases the operation of exporting and distributing video content from Artesia DAM via asynchronous export and leverages export templates that store pre-configured export and transcoding parameters.

  • Broadcast video storage and manipulation is now fully integrated via Front Porch Digital s DIVArchive and supports rich video workflows that include ingestion of HD video from remote devices, partial restore from media files, and stitching of video clips.

  • Creative Desktop plug-ins now support workflows with Adobe® Creative Suite® 3, including Adobe® InDesign® and Adobe® Illustrator®.
