Victorian Department of Education to Implement Electronic Document Management System with Open Text Livelink ECM
Chicago, IL - 2007-07-31 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the largest independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and solutions, today announced that the Victorian Department of Education has selected Livelink ECM for its electronic document management system (EDMS) at the organization s head office in Melbourne, Australia.
LogicaCMG, a major international force in IT and business services, and an Open Text strategic business partner, was awarded the contract from the Department to design and implement its EDMS. The contract follows a one-year rigorous procurement process and will see the Department replace its RecFind records management implementation with the Open Text Livelink ECM eDOCS software to provide seamless integration with the Department s Microsoft Office applications suite and support for all central business processes.
Livelink ECM will help the Department to improve document version control and security, enabling specific access privileges to be assigned to those individuals required to view executive documents as they are developed for approval. It will assist in improving the Department s response times to report information and advice via improved workflow and reduced document duplication by promoting consistency and streamlining records administration.
Leveraging the Open Text technology will also help the Department of Education meet the Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS) compliance, a framework of standards in line with Victorian Government directives for permanent record storage and retrieval requirements.
LogicaCMG will incorporate all existing Department of Education processes into a Livelink ECM based system within their test environment. The EDMS will be deployed to 2,000 users over the next three years.
We are delighted to have been selected by the Victorian Department of Education to help improve its workflow efficiencies and meet its electronic document management requirements, said Colin Holgate, CEO, LogicaCMG Australia. Our track record of providing expertise in information management services coupled with Open Text s industry-leading technology is a winning combination in assisting organizations with their compliance and knowledge management needs.
Today's announcement offers further proof of Open Text's leadership in the government sector globally, said Bailey Spencer, who heads Open Text Public Sector business at Open Text. As a leading provider of enterprise content management solutions, Open Text's broad portfolio and domain expertise and best practices are relied upon throughout federal, regional and local governments worldwide. We look forward to working closely with LogicaCMG and the Victorian Department of Education.
