Stonebridge Companies Turns to Open Text to Manage Business Content with Livelink ECM
Leading U.S. Developer and Manager of Hotels Selects Open Text to Improve Productivity, Reduce Costs in Key Business Processes
Chicago, IL - 2007-05-30 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the largest independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and solutions, today announced that Stonebridge Companies, a leading U.S. hotel development and management company, has selected Open Text s Livelink ECM for use with SAP® applications to reduce costs and increase productivity by improving the way large volumes of invoices, contracts and other key documents are managed throughout the organization.
Founded in 1991 with headquarters in Denver, Stonebridge Companies is a fast-growing organization that has developed or operated more than 75 hotels since its inception. Today the company operates close to 40 hotels in the United States, comprising approximately 6,000 guest rooms and holds franchise licenses with Hilton Hotels, Marriott International, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, among others. Stonebridge Companies employs some 1,400 people across the U.S.
The company chose Open Text s Livelink ECM Solutions for use with SAP applications as part of a broader implementation of Duet Software for SAP, a solution that allows users to interact with business processes and data through Microsoft Office applications. Stonebridge chose Open Text because it needed a solution that could help the company manage content from its SAP applications, including invoices, contacts and human resources information.
Eliminating expensive paper processes and high overnight and mail handling costs were two key reasons for shifting to Open Text s solution. The risks of losing paperwork and time delays trying to find archived documents interfered with productivity. The company used shared drives, saving scanned documents into semi-organized folder structures. But with the company s rapid growth, the volume became unwieldy, with employees sometimes accidentally misplacing documents and folders.
Open Text s solution allows Stonebridge to move to a paperless environment, with a centralized document depository and workflows to manage key, document-intensive processes. The solution also gives Stonebridge Companies the ability to track documents and invoices, while gaining greater security. The solution will be extended across all of Stonebridge Companies departments and involve about 150 users, primarily property management and corporate staff.
"We chose Open Text over EMC Documentum because of its proven integration with SAP applications and Open Text's strategic relationship with SAP, said Kevin Mahoney, COO of Stonebridge Companies.
"Open Text will ultimately enhance communication, business processes and can help us increase efficiency and maximize our productivity by transitioning to a paperless environment. We are excited to build our future on systems with solid infrastructures that deliver increased performance, data security, integrity, reliability and transparency, said Nasim Mansurov, Director of IT at Stonebridge Companies. Open Text gives us an ECM solution that can grow with us and become a key part of our information infrastructure.
Longer term, according to Mansurov, the company is looking to use the system to move more paper-based processes online, as well as to help address their compliance needs with regulations such as the Sarbanes Oxley Act.
The team at Stonebridge Companies took a hard look at all the ways they managed information and how that was impacting their business, said John Wilkerson Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Services and Support at Open Text. They set high standards something that is critical in the hotel business and they clearly wanted a leading-edge solution to maximize productivity and reduce costs. By choosing proven solutions from Open Text and SAP, they are getting systems that will power their business as they grow.
