Central Vermont Public Service Successfully Implements Open Text s Livelink ECM

CVPS Manages Documents and Records in Livelink ECM to Comply with Federal and State Rules and Regulations

Chicago, IL - 2007-03-26 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the largest independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and solutions, today announced that Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS), an independent provider of energy and energy-related services to customers in Vermont, has successfully implemented Open Text s Livelink ECM solution to manage its electronic documents and records for compliance and e-discovery. CVPS is now in the process of incorporating Livelink ECM into all of its departments so it is available company-wide.

CVPS is the largest of Vermont s 21 utilities, serving approximately 155,000 customers across the state. The organization chose Livelink ECM to gain better control over a fast-growing volume of information and to help the company adhere to rules and regulations issued by various regulatory agencies.

Livelink ECM offers one-stop-shopping, so to speak, when employees need to find, organize and administer information, said Chuck Piotrowski, Corporate Records Manager for Central Vermont Public Service. With Open Text, we feel we have much better control over information across the enterprise. For example, in litigation, we can provide requested information in a timely manner, or say with authority that we don't have the information.

Open Text s Livelink ECM solution allows CVPS to store and organize documents and email in a single, authoritative repository. Through a simple user interface, users from human resources, to engineering and operations, to support services, to finance and to legal, have access to all documents and records from a standard Web browser, allowing them to manage their records, collaborate more effectively online, and share information across the organization.

The records management capabilities of Livelink ECM provide an automated system that resolves many of the complexities of electronic records management, making processes transparent to end users. Additionally, CVPS uses Livelink ECM to improve business processes through scanning, workflows and e-forms.

Meeting Compliance Requirements
With Livelink ECM, CVPS is able to manage its operations in a more transparent and efficient manner by ensuring that all content is safe, searchable and readily accessible regardless of the application software. CVPS stores a variety of documents in the system, including its most important corporate records. To help ensure that key documents are preserved, non-destruct notices can be applied to ensure that documents or emails that are subject to discovery or that are requested by regulators are available.

As part of its process for reviewing rates with regulators, CVPS uses Livelink ECM as a library for maintaining information that has been submitted to state regulators. CVPS has found that information that once could take hours or days to find, now takes a matter of seconds. Livelink ECM is also used to organize information relating to regulatory events for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Central Vermont Public Service has taken a crucial step forward by implementing a unified enterprise content management solution to help control its documents and records company-wide, said Steve Best, Vice President, Energy & Chemical Sales at Open Text. With Open Text s Livelink ECM, CVPS is in a better position to reign in and securely manage its content, while at the same time assisting the organization to comply with the multitude of rules issued by federal and state regulators.
