Open Text Announces GlobalStar Customer Award Winners
Philip Morris USA, Forest City Enterprises, Alabama Gas Corporation and ThyssenKrupp Nirosta Demonstrate Innovative and Ground-Breaking Implementations of Livelink ECM Solutions
Chicago, Illinois - 2006-12-04 - Open Text(tm) Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the largest independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and solutions, today announced the winners of its 2006 GlobalStar Awards for leading-edge ECM solutions. The winners and runners-up: Philip Morris USA, Forest City Enterprises, Alabama Gas Corporation and ThyssenKrupp Nirosta, were recognized for ECM solutions that improve productivity levels and demonstrate advanced functionality and innovation. The awards were presented at LiveLinkUp 2006, Open Text's annual user conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, in November.
Selected from a large number of customer applicants, the winners and runners-up have implemented Livelink ECM solutions to help manage information and address critical business challenges with measurable bottom-line results. The honorees include:
GlobalStar Enterprise Award Winner:
Philip Morris USA (PM USA), an operating company of Altria Group, Inc. (NYSE: MO), and the leading cigarette manufacturer in the U.S., is implementing Livelink ECM for records management and document collaboration capabilities to help the company store and retain business information and comply with legal and regulatory commitments such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The system will be integrated with Microsoft Office and Outlook, SAP and TCDI's ClarVergence. About 9,000 users at PM USA will have improved access to business information with records management capabilities. The system will help PM USA manage their information and improve productivity.
GlobalStar Enterprise Award Runners-Up:
Alabama Gas Corporation, the largest natural gas distribution company in Alabama serving more than 460,000 homes, businesses and industries, has automated its Procure to Pay process using Open Text's Livelink ECM - Suite for SAP Solutions(tm). The solution is used by all the departments at Alabama Gas with approximately 400 users running under 12 user roles, working seamlessly between Open Text, Microsoft Outlook and SAP. The fully integrated solution provides Alabama Gas with a much higher level of internal control to the entire Procure to Pay process, improving competitiveness and profitability and greatly enhancing its ability to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Forest City Enterprises, Inc., based in Cleveland, Ohio, is principally engaged in the ownership, development, acquisition and management of premier commercial and residential real estate throughout the United States. Forest City will manage all unstructured content across the enterprise with the Livelink ECM suite for document management, workflow and collaboration solutions. The company has about 3,000 internal users and hundreds of external users. The ECM system is one of the widest ranging applications in the organization, intricately woven into its business processes. The organization has leveraged Livelink ECM's workflow engine and document repository to build a seamless and paperless business process for its project costing system. The accounting departments have utilized Open Text's Livelink ECM - Suite for SAP Solutions to create a paperless accounts payable process. The workflow process across several departments eliminates bottlenecks and improves its Sarbanes Oxley controls for better governance and risk reduction.
Ground-Breaking Award Winner:
ThyssenKrupp Nirosta, one of the world's leading manufacturers of stainless steel products with a wide-ranging portfolio of grades, sizes and finishes, was Open Text's first client to deploy Livelink ECM - Customer Information Management. The new solution captures and manages customer information from systems such as SAP and makes it available to users in Microsoft Office 2003. The combination of Open Text, SAP and Microsoft technologies provides employees with simplified, automated, event-driven access to all process-centric and document-centric customer information through a standardized and familiar Microsoft Office interface. Users have instant access to content-related information quickly and easily without having to search for or request information from others, reducing costs and improving productivity.
