Open Text to Introduce Life Sciences Solutions at DIA Conference

Extended Use of Microsoft Technology Provides Compliant Management of Electronic Records and Documents

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - 2006-06-21 - Today at the 42nd Annual Drug Information Association (DIA) Meeting, Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, announced that it is extending its use of Microsoft technology to encompass Open Text s solutions for Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences. By integrating with the Microsoft platform, Open Text helps companies protect technology investments, and make enterprise content and compliance accessible to all company employees.

Building on the 2007 Microsoft Office system, Open Text is delivering a completely integrated content management technology and solutions set in the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industry. Open Text s Livelink ECM storage and meta data services will extend the collaboration and Web content management features of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to give companies a single platform to manage all enterprise content from creation to end of life.

Open Text will introduce its Regulated Documents solution for the Microsoft platform later this year. With this solution, companies will be able to use Microsoft applications to manage, author, review and approve content in a controlled environment that is compliant with specific guidelines in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration s (FDA) 21 CFR Part 11 regulations, which address how information on new drug submissions must be managed and submitted to the FDA. This improves the end-user experience and allows users to do their work in a familiar environment while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Next year, Open Text will introduce other life sciences solutions for the Microsoft platform.

Our relationship with Open Text allows our customers to get more out of their investment in our platform and solutions, said Steve Shihadeh, General Manager, Healthcare and Life Sciences at Microsoft Corp. Open Text has an impressive track record of developing pharmaceutical and life sciences solutions that help companies better manage complex processes and meet increasingly stringent government regulations. By using Microsoft s technologies, Open Text is helping companies better connect people and systems - leading to increased collaboration and more informed decision making.

In this industry, a clear trend is to use a single technology platform to solve many different business problems, said Kirk Roberts, Executive Vice President, Products, Solutions & Marketing at Open Text. For that reason, our strategy is to build solutions on top of the Microsoft platform, which is widely deployed across enterprises. This lets companies manage the full life cycle of content from creation to destruction while maintaining their corporate assets.

Open Text is showcasing more than a dozen applications and solutions for the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industry at the DIA Meeting, booth #303.
