Oracle and Open Text to Offer Next-Generation Content Management Solutions

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - 2006-06-14 - Oracle and Open Text today announced that Open Text, a global market leader in enterprise content management (ECM) software, will offer content management solutions on the Oracle® Content Database infrastructure software. This partnership extends Open Text s recently launched enterprise solutions framework and builds on the decade long database integration that Open Text has had with Oracle.

Open Text already offers the industry s most scalable and comprehensive document and email management solutions as well as a range of solutions for regulatory requirements, such as Sarbanes Oxley (SOX). Open Text also plans to offer its content-enabled industry applications, such as accounts payable and loan origination on Oracle Content Database. Finally, Open Text will extend Oracle s products with existing technology for imaging, IDARS*, records management, archiving and search. With these solutions, users are expected to access and manage content from Oracle, Siebel, PeopleSoft, and JD Edwards applications, as well as future Oracle Fusion Applications. This integrated solutions environment is further expected to provide all Oracle users with a unified approach to solving their basic content management, ECM, and compliance needs while putting them on the road to Oracle Fusion.

The increasingly complex demands of regulatory compliance require consistent, enterprise-wide content management policies and technology. At the same time, the need to improve productivity and provide rapid access to information requires industry-specific content management capabilities to be completely integrated with business applications. By using Oracle Content Database as an underlying infrastructure, Open Text can quickly meet its customers needs on both fronts.

Open Text has been using Oracle Database technology for more than a decade to deliver ECM solutions, said Ron Vangell, vice president and general manager of Open Text s Oracle Solutions Group. Now, we are extending this partnership to include Oracle s world-class Content Database information management infrastructure in our next generation ECM architecture. Working with Oracle allows us to focus on what we do best -- building content-enabled solutions to solve innovative, industry-specific problems.

Open Text s decision to offer content-based solutions on top of the Oracle Content Database platform fully validates our strategy for managing unstructured information in the Oracle Database, said Andy Mendelsohn, senior vice president of Database Server Technologies, Oracle. Our complementary products should provide customers with a powerful and complete set of solutions to their content management problems.
