Open Text Delivers SAP® xApps Certified Application for Contract Management

New Composite Application Lets Enterprises Use SAP Solution-based User Roles to Simplify Processes, Improve Quality and Ensure Compliance

SAPPHIRE '06 PARIS - 2006-05-31 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, announced today that it is delivering a contract management application that has received the SAP® xApps Certified Powered by SAP NetWeaver® designation. A composite application, the Open Text Contract Management solution (version 1.0) provides role-based views into all contract documents and SAP solution-based data to help companies streamline processes, increase consistency and enhance regulatory compliance. The announcement was made today at SAPPHIRE® 06 Paris, SAP s international customer conference.

SAP xApps composite applications combine Web services and data from multiple systems in an application design based on SAP composite tools such as the SAP Composite Application Framework (SAP CAF) within the SAP NetWeaver platform. The Open Text Contract Management solution takes advantage of this platform to manage contract documents across multiple departments and user roles such as sales, legal, service and quality assurance.

The application helps companies using SAP NetWeaver Portal to automatically track and manage contracts and related documents in one easy-to-implement, packaged application that builds on their existing IT environment. Companies can reduce the cost of administering contracts, increase consistency and improve compliance with contract terms and policies, thus helping to meet Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

Using the new contract management solution, enterprises can store and access contracts from a central location, with transparent authentication using SAP single sign-on. It also provides multiple views based on the user s role, such as account manager, internal sales support, contract administrator or sales manager. It supports the contract management lifecycle, providing integrated functionality in the following areas:

  • Sales Initiate contracts and create notes defining contract terms
  • Internal Sales Support Create contract documents and attach standard documents
  • Contracts/Legal Review and approve documents added by the sales team
  • Delivery Review and update documents and master data for fulfillment
This application places access to documents and SAP data in an environment familiar to users: SAP NetWeaver Portal. We are giving them access to documents and information where and when they need it, said Patrick Barnert, Open Text s Vice President of SAP Applications. We were able to achieve this by utilizing enterprise services to integrate data from the mySAP ERP and mySAP CRM applications and documents from Open Text s Livelink ECM.
