Kichler Lighting Sees Savings with Open Text s Artesia Digital Asset Management Solution

Artesia DAM Deployments Expected to Save $200,000 Annually, Boost Productivity and Provide Easy Access to Growing Asset Library

Solution Wins AIIM 2006 Best Practices Award

Philadelphia, PA - 2006-05-17 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software, today announced that Kichler Lighting, the world s leading supplier of decorative lighting fixtures, has deployed Open Text s Artesia Digital Asset Management (Artesia DAM) to help the company manage its growing library of photographs and other artwork. The solution was selected yesterday by AIIM, the ECM industry association, as a winner of the association s Best Practices Award in the Engineering Category. The award was presented as part of the annual AIIM Conference and Expo, being held this week in Philadelphia, Pa.

In the first of three deployment phases, Kichler Lighting representatives and dealers are now able to easily search through an online database of images managed in Artesia DAM and either download or create CD-ROM images on the fly. This self-service approach removes the burden of supplying images from the graphics department and eliminates the cost of mailing CD-ROMs around the world.

When all three phases are completed, Kichler estimates that using the Artesia DAM system will save more than $200,000 annually while also reducing time involved with searching for images and boosting productivity across the board.

The Artesia DAM software has done everything we asked of it and Open Text provided great support that significantly enhanced our experience, said Joe Propri, Business Systems Analyst for Kichler s Information Technology Group. The user feedback on the new system has been extremely positive and we are definitely seeing the payback we anticipated.

For Kichler Lighting, managing graphics has represented a significant undertaking and one that is very important to the company s customers and partners. Kichler produces a new catalog every six months featuring thousands of images of the company s high-end decorative light fixtures, many taken from different angles or in different settings.

In the past, the images were stored on various personal and shared hard drives and folders. Finding the right image to meet a dealer request was time-consuming and error prone. Now, bringing the full power of Artesia DAM to bear, images can be quickly located by product ID, product family or catalog version all without involvement from the graphics team.

Over the next few months, Kichler will be implementing Artesia DAM project management tools to streamline catalog production with such tools as drag and drop of images from the Artesia DAM client to Quark Xpress page layouts. Following that, Kichler plans to use Artesia DAM to manage a broader range of content such as logos, price sheets and invoices.

We have been very impressed with the performance, quality, reliability and security of the Artesia DAM system, said Propri. As a result, we will continue to expand our use of Artesia DAM to manage content more efficiently and effectively company wide.
