Independent Analyst Firm Cites Open Text for Establishing Business-Content-Centric Application Leadership

Open Text Achieves Top Ranking in the Current Offering Category for Business-Content- Centric Applications

Chicago, IL - 2006-03-30 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, announced today that analyst firm Forrester Research, Inc. (Nasdaq: FORR) has positioned Open Text in the Leaders portion of the Forrester Wave : Business-Content-Centric Applications, Q1 06 report, published on March 29, 2006.

Business-content-centric applications are software solutions that support the management of information originating from within an organization, and help employees capture information, manage day-to-day tasks, and make better decisions. Open Text s strong ECM assets make it a business-content-centric app leader, write Forrester analysts Kyle McNabb, Connie Moore and Eric Kim in the new report. Once almost purely focused on providing enterprises with a broad ECM portfolio, Open Text now has refined its strategy to focus on ECM solutions. This refined strategy puts Open Text in a much better position to leverage its comprehensive ECM portfolio and to meet the transactional and business-content-centric needs of enterprises.

Open Text is also positioned as a Strong Performer in another area of study called Forrester Wave : Transactional-Content-Centric Applications, Q1 06. Transactional-content-centric applications are software solutions that mange content originating from outside the organization, and drive an internal process. This involves processes such as accounts payable in financial services, or claims processing and underwriting in the insurance field.

Open Text ranked again as a Strong Performer in the section, Forrester Wave : Persuasive-Content-Centric Applications, Q1 06. Persuasive-content-centre applications are software solutions that drive the delivery of customer information across multiple channels such as Web sites, retail kiosks and call centers resulting in a more consistent and persuasive customer experience.

We are very proud to be named a leader by Forrester; it is a strong validation of our ECM solutions strategy, said Kirk Roberts, Executive Vice-President, Products, Solutions and Marketing at Open Text. We continue to emphasize close and long-standing relationships with our customers. It is through these relationships that we develop a deep understanding of how to apply ECM technology to solve specific industry and business problems. We will continue to lead the way in meeting the increasingly complex and compliance-driven needs of our customers, by providing powerful ECM solutions that support effective decision making and overall business efficiency.

To assess the state of the content-centric applications market, Forrester evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of nine leading ECM vendors and four best-of-breed ECM component vendors using the Forrester Wave methodology. After reviewing past research, assessments of user needs, and interviews with vendors and experts, Forrester set the evaluation criteria under: Current Offering, Strategy, and Market Presence. Based on their ranking against the criteria, vendors are placed on the Wave as Leaders, Strong Performers, Contenders, or Risky Bets.
