Open Text s Artesia DAM to Help Manage NCAA® Video Broadcast Content

Chicago, IL. - 2006-02-08 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, today announced that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA®) has purchased its Artesia Digital Asset Management solution, Artesia DAM, to assist in the management of its broadcast video content.

The solution improves video archiving and distribution capabilities and offers new ways to store high-value content from NCAA supporting events in a digital format. The entire solution is hosted offsite at Thought Equity Management, a licensing partner of the NCAA.

With the introduction of the Artesia DAM software, the NCAA now has the ability to store, search, access, repurpose, and distribute digital video content to a variety of users, including corporate sponsors and member institutions. The NCAA utilizes Telestream s FlipFactory on the front-end (logging and transcoding) to feed approximately 12,000 hours of collegiate sports programming and associated raw footage into the Artesia DAM system. On the back-end, Artesia DAM sits atop a highly efficient storage solution provided by StorageTek.

With Artesia DAM, we gain enormous flexibility which improves the way we distribute content to member institutions, corporate sponsors, and the NCAA website, said Greg Weitekamp, Director of Broadcasting at the NCAA.

The NCAA is demonstrating how digital asset management has become a core component of the overall video management, production, and distribution process, said Scott Bowen, President of Open Text s Artesia Digital Media Group. Java-based APIs and integration with industry leading technologies allows Artesia DAM to sit at the heart of broadcast workflows for production and distribution management.

Artesia DAM is a leading solution for managing large volumes of digital content, such as video, audio and graphics files, in global organizations. The solution helps customers manage this content more efficiently, and helps them to reduce costs, safeguard copyrights and derive new revenue streams by re-expressing and reusing existing content. Artesia DAM complements every phase of the video asset lifecycle including production, review and approval, distribution, and content preservation. Many of the world s most notable media and entertainment companies, including DreamWorks, Fox Filmed, MLB.com and WGBH Boston, use Artesia DAM.
