TMA selects Open Text's Livelink to enable members to collaborate and share knowledge across the telecom industry
Association benefits from improved productivity and reduced costs
Chicago, IL - 1998-07-27 - -- The Telecommunications Managers
Association (TMA) has chosen Livelink, the Web-based collaborative
knowledge management solution from Open Text Corp., to provide a
cost-effective way of publishing and disseminating essential information to
its 1,700 members across the UK. Livelink also provides a secure
environment for members to collaborate and share knowledge on strategic
projects of mutual interest.
David Harrington, Director General, TMA, commented: "For TMA, Livelink
is the engine of the future. This is a strategic investment that will
completely revolutionize the way TMA works. Livelink will allow us to
improve the quantity and quality of service we deliver to our members."
With members collaborating on collective projects across geographically
dispersed locations, time can be wasted travelling to and from meetings.
Access to information can also be limited if it is circulated via mail or fax.
Livelink provides a secure and centralized environment for storing and
managing data, enabling members to exchange ideas and work with
timely, accurate and up-to-date information.
Harrington continued: "Livelink will enable us to make substantial savings
by reducing our administration costs as we move away from being a
paper-based organization. By considerably improving our productivity, we
are also able to maintain lower overheads. TMA was looking for an easily
deployable, out-of-the-box solution, which requires minimal customization
and low maintenance. Livelink delivers exactly that."
Derek Buchanan, UK Country Manager, Open Text, added: "Ease of use
was an extremely important criteria when selecting the right solution. TMA
is looking to provide access to the system to users in 1,700 different
organizations, with very diverse working philosophies and cultures. The
system therefore needs to be very user friendly, to welcome people to it
and for them to realize benefits from day one."
