Developers cite Livelink as industry standard in collaborative knowledge management
Waterloo, ON - 1998-08-25 - -- Open Text Corporation
(NASDAQ:OTEX, TSE:OTC) today announced the launch of the Livelink
Affinity Developer Program. The Developer Program extends Open Text's
award-winning Livelink Affinity Partner Program, which currently supports
value-added resellers, solution providers and now developers. The Livelink
Affinity Developer Program is designed to assist and promote independent
software vendors (ISVs) in the creation of products that enhance and
extend the capabilities of Livelink to meet specific customer requirements.
Each Livelink Affinity Developer partner will create new applications and/or
tightly integrate existing products with Livelink and fully support their
integrated solution. Open Text has already partnered with numerous ISVs
who have built Livelink-based modules and independent complementary
applications.
"Open Text is pleased to announce this latest addition to the Livelink
Affinity Partner Program," said Doug Farrand, Director, Livelink Affinity
Partner Programs. "Developer partners play a vital role in helping us deliver
solutions and integrated product offerings that address the unique
challenges of customers across a broad range of industries."
A recent addition to the program is World Wide Technology, Inc., a leading
provider of hardware, software and networking solutions and services that
enable companies to better share, distribute, organize and analyze
information. World Wide Technology has developed expertise and
component solutions for integrating Livelink with other solutions including
FileNET document imaging and Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning
applications.
"The Livelink Affinity Developer Program is an excellent opportunity for
World Wide Technology to further our commitment to developing solely
Web-based applications," said Bob Olwig, Director Technology, World
Wide Technology. "Being the premier Web-based collaborative knowledge
management solution, Livelink has become the widely-acknowledged
industry standard and enables us to build dozens of applications to meet
the specific needs of government and telecommunications customers
around the world."
Formark Limited, Open Text's first Canadian Affinity partner, has joined the
Developer Program and works closely with other Livelink Affinity partners
and Open Text to provide custom Livelink applications and Formark
products. Leading corporations, such as John Hancock Insurance, TRW
and Merrill Lynch, are using Formark's AuthorLink to integrate office
productivity tools with Livelink.
"The Livelink Affinity Partner Program has been a creative and rewarding
experience for Formark. Open Text is always open to trying new ideas and
collaborating with their partners," said David Forbes, President, Formark.
"The relationship has also proven to be very profitable, with Formark
closing approximately half a dozen Livelink-related deals since joining the
program."
Another developer adds: "Joining the Livelink Affinity Developer Program
has definitely increased our exposure - it has enabled us to get in front of
customers and channel partners that we might never have met before,"
said Greg Worden, Marketing Director, Syntergy. "Livelink's Web-based
technology and multi-platform capabilities are very appealing to our
customers because the results are a truly collaborative environment with
minimum training, easy deployment and an almost immediate return on
investment."
"As information management and document supply chain (DSC)
technologies are applied more like infrastructure, vendors' abilities to
attract ISVs and developers will become more critical," said David
Yockelson, VP and Director at META Group. "Global 2000 clients are
anxious to invest in DSC platforms that enable broad integration with the
variety of business applications with which their employees interact every
day."
To ensure the success of this program, participation requires a minimal
up-front investment of $2,400 U.S. and the commitment of technical
resources for training. As members of the program, Livelink Affinity
Developers will gain marketing visibility for their solutions through the
Livelink Affinity Solution Portfolio, a reference guide for customers,
resellers, integrators and Open Text representatives looking for proven
solutions and optional add-ons to Livelink. Each Developer partner receives
product training, participation in Open Text marketing programs and
access to the Livelink Knowledge Center, a secure, Livelink-based
extranet.
