Molson Breweries Selects Livelink as Enterprise-Wide Knowledge Management Standard

Molson uses Livelink to track Y2K compliance and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration

Waterloo, ON - 1998-09-03 - Open Text Corporation (NASDAQ:OTEX, TSE: OTC) today announced Molson Breweries has chosen Livelink as its knowledge management standard enterprise wide. Livelink will enable Molson to provide improved customer service, effectively manage Year 2000 compliance projects and facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across the company.

Molson Breweries, the 212-year-old international brewing company, purchased Livelink in 1998 to meet the need for a powerful Web-based knowledge management solution that is easily scaled as more users are added.

"Upon learning that Livelink was the leading Web-based knowledge management solution, we attended an Open Text user conference to investigate the product further," said Robert Van Tol, Manager, Web Technologies, Molson Breweries. "At the conference, we received strong feedback from some of the world's largest companies about their Livelink implementation, confirming our decision to purchase the software."

"Molson's choice of Livelink again illustrates the high market demand for a truly Web-based enterprise knowledge management solution," said Abe Kleinfeld, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Open Text Corporation. "Livelink's rich off-the-shelf functionality, enterprise scalability and secure collaborative capabilities have made it the knowledge management standard for a rapidly growing number of the world's largest companies."

Presently, Molson uses Livelink in many different departments across the company, including the information technology department, which uses Livelink's project collaboration capabilities to help manage the companys Year 2000 compliance initiatives. Livelink allows departments to share and manage electronic documents across the country, ensuring that employees have access to current information no matter where they are located. Molson also plans to use Livelink's extensive search and security features to help employees securely access and track information in the corporate database.

"Previously there was a mix of systems, some even paper-based, which made it difficult for some departments to work together," added Rob Van Tol. "Our goal is to be able to share information throughout the company and we are delighted that Livelink allows us to easily reach our goal and enable time-saving collaboration."
