Open Text Brings Livelink Workspaces, Content to Portals

Latest Enterprise Content Integration Capability Adds Value to Customers Portals

Chicago, Il - 2003-08-21 - Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and content management software for the global enterprise, today introduced a new product, called Livelink UNITE Anywhere, that makes all the capabilities of Livelink easily accessible within any commercially available portal. Customers can easily create tailored window views in a portal that offer access to Livelink's collaborative tools, workspaces and content, extending the portal's capabilities and improving enterprise content integration.

Livelink UNITE Anywhere is an extension of Livelink UNITE , which Open Text introduced last year. Livelink UNITE provides virtual workspaces with tailored views of Livelink content for project teams and individuals working in Livelink. UNITE Anywhere takes the same capabilities and extends them into any portal. Customers can create customized views of Livelink within a portal, including specialized workspaces with Livelink content, all designed to meet the specific needs of project teams or individuals. UNITE Anywhere also allows customers to easily deliver Livelink content in the same way to Websites or extranets not built on a portal framework.

Customers can also offer access to a wide range of Livelink tools through their portal, for example online team meetings with Livelink MeetingZone , as well as knowledge and document management, information retrieval, workflows, and even records management.

Organizations that have invested heavily in portals rely on them as a central place for online work, said Anik Ganguly, Executive Vice President of Products at Open Text. But customers are demanding more from their portals, including improved collaboration tools and better ways to manage information for regulatory compliance. With Livelink UNITE Anywhere, companies can easily add scalable collaboration and knowledge management to portals without specialized programming. It s a great option for customers, who today must choose solutions that either have limited features or are too expensive.

According to Ganguly, customers current options include connectors from application vendors that only work with a specific portal or specialized portlets created by portal vendors for a specific customer neither of which is easily extended. The other option is choosing the usually limited collaboration and document management capabilities offered by portal vendors. Livelink UNITE Anywhere is a ready-made super connector that automatically makes all of Livelink available, so Livelink content can be easily tailored or personalized to meet very specific needs. UNITE Anywhere also offers access to Livelink s brokered search, which lets users submit a single query and receive combined results from multiple Livelink repositories, public and internal search engines, and from other authenticated sites.

Livelink UNITE Anywhere works with any portal, including Oracle Portal, mySAP Enterprise Portal, Plumtree Corporate Portal, Vignette Application Portal, Netscape iPlanet Portal, Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, as well as Open Text s own portal, Coreport.

Solutions for Enterprise Content Integration Livelink UNITE Anywhere is the latest in a series of Open Text offerings designed to give customers greater flexibility to link content and applications spread across the enterprise. Other solutions include Livelink UNITE, which provides tailored views of content inside Livelink; Coreport, a portal which lets users offer tailored access to a wide range of content and applications based on job functions, departments, distributor networks, even project teams; Livelink Doorways , which bridges content and tools across different repositories and provides centralized access through Livelink; and Livelink for Content Management which lets users create, manage and publish online content.
