Open Text Offers Customers a Complete Input Management Solution Through Alliance with Captiva

Livelink Customers to Significantly Benefit from Transforming Paper Documents

San Diego, CA - 2003-04-22 - Captiva Software Corporation (Nasdaq: CPTV), a leading provider of input management solutions, today announced an alliance agreement with Open Text Corporation (Nasdaq: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the provider of Livelink®, the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise. Through the agreement, Open Text will resell InputAccel®, Captiva's premier document capture software, and select modules of FormWare®, Captiva's award-winning forms capture software, to offer its Livelink® customers a complete input management solution on a single platform. These advanced document and forms capture capabilities will create new business opportunities for OpenText within its growing customer base.

"By offering Captiva's document and forms capture platform, Open Text will be able to further support our customers in paper-intensive organizations, such as life science companies, financial service institutions and government agencies, with a single, best-practice solution for transforming mission-critical paper documents and forms into useable electronic content," said Bill Forquer, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Open Text. Captiva's solutions are designed to seamlessly assimilate data into the ECM, ERP, CRM and other enterprise applications and databases commonly used by our customers. Thus, its input management solutions were an obvious choice for Open Text to complement Livelink's capabilities, adding capture to the management, storage and retrieval of document images and their associated files."

Forquer added that Open Text continues to encounter the need for input management solutions. Many customers still conduct paper-based business transactions or have historical data in paper form that must be captured and managed in electronic form. He highlighted the needs of companies in the pharmaceutical and life science industries, which require a robust solution for processing documents used in clinical trials and drug approval processes.

"We're pleased to partner with Open Text to help it pursue more intricate document capture business opportunities, specifically in vertical markets still dependent on paper-based document and forms processes," said Blaine Owens, Captiva's Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "We look forward to working closely with Open Text to provide its customers premier document and forms capture abilities, which are crucial initial steps within overall document collaboration and information management systems."

InputAccel transforms mission-critical data from paper and faxes into business-ready content.
